A Look Back at Our Favorite Scenes of Justin Hartley and Sofia Pernas on ‘Tracker’ Before Season 2 Returns
Sofia Pernas has appeared in one episode—so far—of Justin Hartley’s hit CBS series Tracker, and it’s all fans can think about ahead of season 2’s premiere. Tracker is just one of many projects that showcase the chemistry between Pernas and Hartley. The pair originally met on the set of The Young and The Restless in 2015. They began dating years after reuniting off-screen, then got married in 2021. Since then, Pernas and Hartley have collaborated on Quantum Leap and now Tracker.
The series, based on Jeffery Deaver’s novel The Never Game, introduces Hartley as a survivalist named Colter. Despite his tendency to be a loner, Colter surprised viewers when he reunited with his ex Billie in the first season.
Context clues revealed that Billie had formed a connection with Colter until she tricked him into taking a reward. While working on a new case, sparks flew between the fictional couple. Colter tried to rekindle things with Billie, but she backed out at the last minute.
This wasn’t the end for Colter and Billie. After Tracker was renewed for a second season, Hartley confirmed to Deadline in May 2024 that Pernas would return “multiple times” to pick up where she left off.
“You’re just watching a talented actor. There are a few things we benefit from discussing privately that you don’t normally have time to do,” he told Deadline about working with Pernas. “But when you live with that person, you can talk about those things over dinner and say, ‘Hey, what about this?’ So we actually have an opportunity to have a dialogue about that.”
Tracker returns for a second season in the fall of 2024. Keep scrolling for a guide to Us’ favorite Colter and Billie moments so far: There’s nothing better than a reconnection between two characters with a clear past. As soon as Billie appeared in the March 2024 episode, viewers could sense there was something more between her and Colter. The duo slowly acknowledged that their previous jobs had put them at odds—but there was still chemistry in the air.
“You know, when I saw this job, I was like, ‘In and out, open and closed, easy money deals,’” Billie told Colter after they met again. “And then you come in. It’ll be fun to beat you to the prize.”
Although they initially try to work separately, Colter and Billie realize that they work better together. The search for a missing prize horse brings Colter and Billie to the same place, which is when they come up with the idea of working together.
“We get along really well,” Billie tells Colter about their partnership. Initially, Colter says he doesn’t “trust” Billie, but it doesn’t take long for them to come to a truce.
Billie then surprises Colter when she suggests they go out to dinner after solving the case. Colter’s hesitation hints at some emotions that have surfaced, and they only become more intense as they continue to search for the missing course.
The case then leads Colter and Billie to an abandoned farmhouse. The investigation takes a turn when Colter and Billie realize they’ve been tricked by the real kidnapper, who trapped Colter and Billie in a burning warehouse. They survive by trusting each other.
“By the way, thanks for getting me back there,” Colter tells Billie once they’re safe. “You could have let me fall.”
“You really think I’m like that? I guess I deserved it. It’s your fault. You were so over the top. I have to prove that I’m above you,” she replies.
The rough moment only gets more intense as Colter bandages Billie. Colter wins Billie over — and Us — when he reveals that he “always thought” Billie was “above” him. Colter and Billie almost share a kiss before a phone call ruins the moment.
