Shemar Moore Breaks Silence on ‘S.W.A.T.’ Season 8 & Beyond—His Hilarious Response Will Surprise You!

Shemar Moore on ‘S.W.A.T.’’s Wild Ride: Canceled Twice, Uncanceled Twice, and Still Fighting for More

CBS just can’t seem to keep the S.W.A.T. team down. The network has pulled the plug on the action-packed drama twice—first after Season 6, then again after Season 7—only to bring it back both times. Now, as Season 8 kicks off, star and executive producer Shemar Moore is opening up about the show’s unpredictable journey and its future.

“To get canceled twice in a row and then uncanceled twice in a row? That’s unheard of,” Moore told People in a new interview. “I give kudos to me running my mouth on social media.”

Moore’s Instagram activism played a huge role in reviving the series, and he’s not shy about taking credit. “Nothing lasts forever, but I fight,” he said.

Aiming for Season 13? Moore Says, ‘Talk to My Knees’

So, how much longer can the S.W.A.T. squad keep going? According to Moore, the cast and crew have big dreams.

“Everybody at S.W.A.T. wants Season 13,” he revealed. “And I’m like, ‘You’ve got to talk to my knees, boy. It ain’t no joke.’”

At 54, Moore admits that pulling off high-octane action scenes isn’t as easy as it used to be—jumping over cars, chasing down bad guys, and keeping those six-pack abs in check takes its toll.

Still, that didn’t stop him from celebrating when CBS reversed course yet again and greenlit Season 8.

“I partied like a rock star when I heard we were coming back,” he said. “Doors closing and then kicking them back open—that’s a very scary, fun thing. And that’s how I live life.”

From Two Cancellations to a Full 22-Episode Season

Speaking to TV Insider in April, Moore reflected on the show’s rollercoaster ride and what it means to get a full 22-episode order for Season 8.

“Two cancellations, and now they’re backing us? That’s huge,” he said. “After everything we’ve been through, to get a full slate of 22 episodes? That’s a win—for the fans, for the crew, for everyone who works so hard to make this show happen.”

And what if Season 8 turns out to be the last?

“If this is it, we won this fight—this impossible fight,” Moore said. “But maybe there’s a Season 9, maybe even a 10. We don’t know. But one thing’s for sure: we’re not worried about getting canceled anymore.”

For now, Moore and the S.W.A.T. team are focused on delivering one hell of a season—whether it’s their last or just another chapter in their unexpected comeback story.
