FBI Season 7, Episode 10’s Intense Case Was A Blessing In Disguise For Jubal

FBI season 7, episode 10, titled “Redoubt,” is a blessing in disguise for Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) despite an intense case. Several months after Jubal’s suspension sparked speculation that Jeremy Sisto might be leaving FBI, the New York Field Office supervisor takes the lead on an investigation involving one of his CIs, Faheem (Omid Abtahi). Faheem misses a scheduled check-in at a local cafe but shows up at Jubal’s home, frightening Jubal’s ex-wife, Sam, and causing Jubal to rush over expecting to diffuse a hostage situation. Jubal thus holds Faheem at gunpoint before taking him in for questioning.

Faheem’s half-truths make him untrustworthy as far as the rest of the Field Office is concerned, but Jubal is unwilling to give up interrogating him. After Jubal finally gets the truth out of Faheem, the team springs into action to save Faheem’s brother, Daanish, who terrorists are threatening to assassinate during a prison transfer. The story demonstrates why it’s a good thing that Jubal Valentine’s fate in FBI didn’t involve a longer suspension, but also leaves him worried about how his job affects his family’s safety, especially Sam.

Faheem’s Return Puts Jubal & The Whole FBI In Danger
The CI Is Being Forced To Sabotage FBI Computers

After Jubal brings Faheem to the FBI office, he struggles to get the truth out of his former CI. Faheem is evasive about where he was during their scheduled meeting and continually insists he won’t give up any information unless Jubal agrees to release Daanish from prison. Eventually, the team learns Faheem is being forced to help compromise FBI computers in exchange for his brother’s safety. He pleads with Jubal to help protect his brother and reminds the agent that he sacrificed a mission to protect Jubal when Jubal was drunk during a 2012 operation.

Despite Isobel’s (Alana de la Garza) skepticism, Jubal decides to help Faheem’s brother. This decision puts him and several U.S. Marshals in danger when the gang threatening Faheem attempts to assassinate Daanish during the prison transfer. Jubal narrowly avoids getting shot by a dirty U.S. Marshal, who had been a plant working with the criminals. Though the situation is mostly resolved by the end, it stirs up what are definitely unresolved feelings inside Jubal.

FBI’s Case Results In Jubal & Sam Taking A Big Step Towards Reconciliation
The Two Talk About Their Future And Share A Kiss

The entire experience leads Jubal to realize that it is too dangerous for him to live with Sam. Faheem’s plight only confirms for Jubal that the criminals he chases will target the family members of their enemies, and it could one day be Sam in their sights. After the case is over, he checks on Sam to see if she’s okay. It takes a while for Sam to successfully break into his monologue about how dangerous it is for him to live with her, but she ultimately tells him that she doesn’t want him to leave, as her life is better now that they live together. Jubal is surprised, especially when their discussion leads to them kissing.

This dangerous case in FBI is a blessing in disguise for Jubal and Sam, who can finally move forward with their relationship.

Jubal and Sam’s reconciliation is unsurprising; the hints were there. They have been living together for convenience’s sake for most of FBI season 7, and Jubal puts his wedding ring back on before his initial meeting with Faheem so that Faheem won’t ask questions. However, it probably wouldn’t have happened this quickly had the mission with Faheem not gone south. Thus, this dangerous case in FBI is a blessing in disguise for Jubal and Sam, who can finally move forward with their relationship.
