Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos Calls Engagement to Chock Chapple a ‘Dream Come True’

The Golden Bachelorette alum Joan Vassos is over the moon amid her engagement to Chock Chapple, and she exclusively tells Life & Style that their love story is a “dream come true.”

“After we got engaged, we had about three months where the show was airing and we had to be a secret and we got to go do these things called ‘Happy Couple Visits,’ Joan, 62, explains about the early days of their engagement while discussing her partnership with Aspercreme.

After noting that the show organized five getaways for her and Chock, 61, following their engagement, Joan gushes that their time together helped grow their relationship.

“We would see each other about every couple weeks in L.A.,” she shares. “So you can spend time together and get to know each other. So in those five visits, which were like four or five days at a time where … it’s just the two of you, you really get to know each other.”

Joan adds that their private time together helped the couple realize if their relationship was “really gonna work.”

“Because, I mean, let’s face it. You haven’t spent a lot of time getting to know each other or it’s not gonna work. And we just became so solid in those five visits,” Joan shares. “Chock always says we’re like an old married couple. Like we’ve been married for five years, so we are so comfortable with each other because we just matched on so many things like our values and our morals and the way we are with our families and the way we are with our friends.”

Joan goes on to explain that she and Chock value the same things in life. “My family and my friends are like the most important, you know, thing to me. I’m the person that checks in on everybody. Like at least once a week. Chock is the same way,” she shares. “We found, like, that we had so many similarities.”

“Merging into each other’s lives has been really, really easy,” she continues.

While fans watched Joan and Chock get engaged during the Golden Bachelorette season 1 finale in November 2024, she explains that they have been busy ever since they’ve gone public with their romance.

“We get to do all these fun things now,” she says. “We’ve done a lot of podcasts, we’ve done some appearances and we get to do some travel. Like we’re in California right now, we’re here with iHeartRadio and they brought us out for the AT&T National Golf Tournament at Pebble Beach, [we’ve] done some podcasts with them and we just did have some fun. So it’s been like a whirlwind and we feel like we’re really, really lucky.”

In addition to gushing about her relationship with Chock, Joan also discusses her partnership with Aspercreme. Through the collaboration, Joan is shattering stereotypes about aging and is redefining what it means to “act your age.”

“I finally have a fiancé and we have all these plans for travel, including getting a place in New York. And I also still love going on, like, some adventures with my girlfriends, so they’re kind of at the same place in life that I am … like we have a little more time and we kind of have resources,” Joan says about her current mindset, adding why she wanted to work with Aspercreme. “Let’s face it, at this age it doesn’t come without a little bit of cost. And that’s why the partnership with Aspercreme seems so obvious because it’s about empowering people to keep doing what makes them happy. And they make it really easy.”
