One Chicago Crossover Finally Gives Kidd & Severide What They’ve Been Waiting For

The 2025 One Chicago crossover event brought heart-stopping drama as the Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med teams worked together to contain a massive gas explosion. Among those in the most danger were Stella Kidd and Detective Adam Ruzek, who found themselves trapped in a tunnel with panicked train passengers.

While Kidd fought to keep everyone calm and alive, Kelly Severide could do nothing but watch and wait, his fear for his wife’s life growing with every second. Thankfully, Stella survived, but the ordeal only strengthened something she and Severide had already been considering—taking a much-needed vacation together.

A Break That’s Long Overdue

From the beginning of the crossover to its final moments, Severide and Kidd kept discussing their desire to escape to Cabo for some long-overdue rest and relaxation. Between the departure of Chief Wallace Boden and the arrival of their new leader, Dom Pascal, stress levels at Firehouse 51 have been at an all-time high.

The life-and-death nature of their jobs makes it easy to push personal needs aside. But as the near-tragedy in the tunnel reminded them, they can lose each other at any moment. Now more than ever, they need time away to reset and focus on each other.

The Honeymoon That Never Happened

This isn’t the first time Stella and Severide have realized their need for a break. Their honeymoon was infamously cut short after their wedding when they were attacked by drug dealers connected to a case Severide had helped solve in Season 10.

The attack left Stella fighting for her life, only for Severide to save her in a deadly confrontation with the criminals. From that moment on, work kept interfering with their relationship—whether it was Severide leaving for an arson investigation program in Alabama or Stella adjusting to her new lieutenant position and the responsibilities of her Girls on Fire program.

Despite everything, their love has remained strong, even as they struggled to balance marriage and duty.

A Future Beyond Firehouse 51?

As the crossover wrapped up, it strongly hinted that this time, Stella and Severide will finally get their trip to Cabo—and maybe even more.

The promo for the next episode of Chicago Fire teases that the couple is considering starting a family. After years of personal and professional struggles, this could mark a new chapter for them, one where they finally find balance between their careers and their personal life.

If one thing’s for sure, it’s that One Chicago fans are rooting for Stella and Severide to finally get their well-deserved happiness.
