During Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple’s final date on The Golden Bachelorette before they got engaged, he asked her to get a place in New York City with him, but their move has been delayed once again. After The Golden Bachelorette season 1, Joan and Chock decided to keep their respective homes in Rockville, Maryland and Wichita, Kansas, but also get a place together in NYC. In December 2024, it seemed that Joan and Chock had found their dream home in NYC, but now their move has been put on hold again.
Joan revealed that she and Chock aren’t looking for a place in NYC until the spring because their dream home was taken off the market.
In an interview with E! News, Joan revealed that she and Chock aren’t moving to NYC until the spring because their dream home was taken off the market. She said, “I’m so bummed about the place. That place was perfect, and the guy took it off the market. We put in a bid along with other people, and he took it off the market. Nobody got it. That was really bizarre. So that was really sad because that seemed like a really good place.”
However, Joan isn’t giving up on her and Chock finding their ideal place to live in NYC. She shared that because they both have a place to live, they have time to wait. Joan said, “The inventory is pretty low, and I’m really picky about where I want to be, like what feels comfortable to me. It’s not like we don’t have a home to live in. He has a home, I have a home. We have probably too many homes.”
Joan added that she and Chock are going to continue their search for their NYC home in the spring. She said, “So getting a place in New York—although it’s something we’re dying to do and we want to be there—finding the right place is more important. So I think we need to wait till the inventory in the spring gets a little more open and there’s some more places to look at because right now there just aren’t that many.”
Joan also shared that she and Chock currently live in their original homes in Maryland and Kansas, but they try not to go more than two weeks without seeing each other. She added that she thinks that Chock will eventually move to the East Coast because he doesn’t have any family in Wichita. His kids live in North Carolina, which is actually closer to Maryland. However, right now, Chock has a business in Wichita.
Joan also revealed that Chock knows that she’s not leaving Maryland, and “that was kind of the deal from the beginning.” She added that Chock “loves Maryland. He’s kind of figuring his way around the state, and so far so good.”

What The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos & Chock Chapple’s Delayed NYC Move Means For Their Relationship
Joan & Chock Will Continue To Have A Long-Distance Relationship
Now that Joan and Chock have decided to delay their search for a place in NYC, it means that they will continue to have a long-distance relationship. However, it seems to be working for them so far, as Joan said that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Joan made it clear from before she even began filming The Golden Bachelorette that she wasn’t going to leave Maryland because of her family, including her four adult children, her three grandchildren, her 92-year-old mother, and her mother-in-law, who’s her late husband John’s mom.
It’s great that Joan and Chock aren’t rushing into moving into a new home in NYC. They shouldn’t settle for a place that they don’t completely love. While it’s disappointing that their dream home was taken off the market, there’s surely some place else that’s perfect for them in the city.
Our Take On Joan & Chock Moving To NYC
Joan & Chock Might Decide Not To Move To The Big Apple
Although Joan and Chock have a dream to move to NYC together, they’ve been making their long-distance relationship work for the past few months. Perhaps they might decide to skip moving to NYC, and instead Chock will move to Maryland with Joan where they’ll settle down. The fact that Joan said that they probably have too many homes is a sign that moving to NYC is really necessary for them.
If Joan and Chock really want to live in NYC, then they should definitely wait until the right place for them comes along. They shouldn’t move there until they find a home that’s perfect for them. Joan and Chock are so in love that they could be happy anywhere.
