Big Bang Theory stars to reprise roles for Young Sheldon finale
The Big Bang Theory stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reprise their roles for the Young Sheldon finale.
According to Deadline, the duo will return as the adult versions of Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler when the prequel wraps up on Thursday, May 16.
Parsons executive produces Young Sheldon and also narrates the show, which takes place during his Big Bang Theory character Sheldon’s childhood in Texas.
Bialik has also previously popped up in Young Sheldon, when she joined Parsons to co-narrate an episode in 2022.
The news comes during the final weeks of Young Sheldon, where the remaining episodes will include some major Easter eggs that fans of The Big Bang Theory have been expecting.
CBS has also announced this week that it’s moving forward with a Young Sheldon spin-off show based around Georgie Cooper and his love Mandy McAllister, with Montana Jordan and Emily Osment expected to return.
Franchise creator Chuck Lorre will return as well with producers Steve Molaro and Steve Holland for this currently-untitled Young Sheldon spin-off.
“From The Big Bang Theory to Young Sheldon, the world of the Cooper family has been incredibly special to us. We’re very excited to continue their stories through the eyes of Georgie and Mandy,” the trio said of the spin-off.
Back in November, Lorre also offered an update on a second planned Big Bang Theory spin-off in early development for streaming service Max.
“You don’t talk about the birth until the second trimester, I believe, is the rule. That’s a long way of saying no, I’ve got nothing to say about it other than it’s something that we are discussing,” the writer-producer told TVLine.
Young Sheldon airs on CBS in the US and E4 in the UK.
