It was a regular Sunday shift for Angela Roschel at the Sheetz convenience store on Greenfield Road in East Lampeter Township, Pennsylvania — until a brush with stardom turned her day into one she’ll never forget.
Roschel noticed a customer who seemed oddly familiar but couldn’t immediately place him. Then, as he turned, everything clicked. “I was like, ‘I think I know him.’ But when he turned, and I got a full-face view, I thought, ‘Oh, my God. That’s Taylor Kinney!'”
Kinney, a Lancaster County native, is best known for his role as Chicago Fire Department Lt. Kelly Severide on NBC’s hit drama Chicago Fire, a part he has played since the show’s premiere in 2012.
A Fan’s Dream Come True
As a devoted fan of Chicago Fire, Roschel couldn’t pass up the chance to meet Kinney. She approached him, explained her admiration for the show, and asked for a photo. Kinney, gracious as ever, agreed without hesitation.
When Roschel told him she was a fan, Kinney’s response was both humble and lighthearted. “He said he was glad, because otherwise, he wouldn’t have a job,” she shared with a laugh.
After snapping the photo, Kinney purchased some lottery tickets and left the store with his friend.
A First-Time Celebrity Encounter
Roschel, who has worked at Sheetz for over five years, said this was her first time meeting a celebrity. “I always see or hear about other people’s encounters with celebrities and think, ‘If only that was me.’ Well, I had my moment, and it was something I’ll never forget.”
Roschel’s story highlights the small-town charm of Lancaster County, where even big Hollywood names like Taylor Kinney can casually drop into a local convenience store. For Roschel, the encounter wasn’t just about meeting a star — it was a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime moment.
