Warner Bros working on a Big Bang Theory’s spinoff series. Here’s everything we know about it so far

A new series set in The Big Bang Theory universe is coming. Chuck Lorre is developing the spinoff. It will stream on Max. Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and Kevin Sussman will reprise their roles. The show’s plot details are still under wraps. This will be the fourth show in the franchise, following Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

According to a report of US Magazine, executive producer Chuck Lorre, who created the original sitcom, is leading the project. The spinoff will air on the streaming service Max.

Big Bang Theory Cast

The new series will see the return of three familiar faces: Brian Posehn, Kevin Sussman, and Lauren Lapkus. They will reprise their roles as geologist Bert, comic book store owner Stuart, and Stuart’s girlfriend Denise, respectively. No plot details have been released.

The original “Big Bang Theory” aired from 2007 to 2019 and starred Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik, and Melissa Rauch. The show won 10 Emmy Awards during its run.

Parsons, who also executive produced the prequel series “Young Sheldon,” explained the decision to end the original series in 2019: “It’s both as complex and as simple as just feeling innately that it was time. … It felt like we have been able to do this for so many years now, it doesn’t feel like there is anything left on the table.”

Big Bang Theory Spin-Offs

This new spinoff will be the fourth show in the franchise, following “The Big Bang Theory,” “Young Sheldon,” and “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.” The spinoff is still in development and needs a green light from Warner Bros. Television before it officially moves into production, the report added.

Earlier this year, Kaley Cuoco expressed her desire to reprise her beloved role as Penny from The Big Bang Theory, describing her time on the show as “some of the best years of [her] life.”

The actress, who played Penny for 12 years from 2007 to 2019, acknowledged the profound impact the role had on her career. In an interview with People, Cuoco reflected on the joy and camaraderie she experienced while working on the hit CBS sitcom. “I owe a lot to that character, to that character, to that show, to [creator] Chuck Lorre,” she shared.

When asked about the possibility of returning to the role, Cuoco’s enthusiasm was clear. “I would absolutely reprise that role. 100%,” she said. Her deep affection for Penny endures, as she affirmed, “I love that character, and I always will.”

The Big Bang Theory followed a quirky group of science-loving friends navigating life and relationships in California. During its run, the show became a cultural phenomenon, earning 10 Emmy Awards and cementing its legacy in television history.
