The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos Attempts To Create Viral Moment Without Chock Chapple Amid Showmance Rumors

Despite facing accusations that she’s in a showmance, The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos forged ahead with a video that took advantage of a social media trend. Joan found new love with Chock Chapple during The Golden Bachelorette season 1, but their post-show life hasn’t been super easy for them. They’re constantly dealing with rumors about whether they’re going to split up or if Joan’s just in this relationship for the fame. It got to a point where Joan and Chock posted a video in which they admitted they were aware of the rumors but declared they were a real couple.

The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan Vassos teamed up with a fellow Golden Bachelor star for a video based on a social media trend.

Joan teamed up with The Golden Bachelor’s ninth-place finisher Nancy Hulkower for a fun video designed to go viral. It showed the two reality stars wearing green and pink and lip-syncing to a song about the box office hit Wicked. “Glinda, Elphaba, I’m a witch, and I’m a witch, but which is which? Well, here’s the sitch” is how the lyrics start. In her Instagram caption, Joan referred to herself and Nancy as “two best friends,” similar to Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked.

Joan’s Video Feeds Into Fame Accusations But She Doesn’t Care

Leading up to the release of Wicked, stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande performed this song about their respective characters, Elphaba and Glinda, for a bit on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The tune ended up making its way across social media, with various people lip-syncing to the lyrics to celebrate their love of the Wizard of Oz origin story. Within Bachelor Nation, The Golden Bachelor season 1 winner Theresa Nist actually posted her own version (with Leslie Fhima) three weeks before Joan did.

Even though Joan has had to deal with accusations that she’s trying to stay relevant and famous, even after The Golden Bachelorette, she doesn’t seem to care what other people think. If she wants to post a fun video that’s based on a viral song on social media, then she’s going to do it. Joan’s attempt actually worked because she ended up receiving over 3,000 likes on her video, compared to Theresa’s version, which had fewer than 2,000 likes.

Our Take On Joan Vassos’ Having Fun With Nancy Hulkower
The Golden Bachelor Women Are Close Friends

Despite the difference in the number of likes, Theresa and The Golden Bachelorette’s Joan probably didn’t care one bit who came out on top; they just wanted to have fun with their friends. These Wicked-themed videos are even more proof that the Golden Bachelor women formed really close bonds, like Cynthia and Ariana did while filming Wicked, and they wanted to defy gravity by staying friends, despite the typical trend of reality TV shows (including The Bachelor) pitting women against each other. They’ve all gotten to know one another really well and are holding space for each other.
