The Golden Bachelor slammed over ‘inappropriate’ and ‘elder abusive’ bedroom arrangements
Some Golden Bachelor fans are slamming the new dating show’s producers for ‘inappropriate’ bedroom arrangements.
The Golden Bachelor producers should’ve had a look around before they let the 22 women who will fight for Bachelor Gerry Turner’s love into the mansion to see their living arrangements because some weren’t impressed.
Now fans aren’t pleased either.
On The Golden Bachelor’s Instagram, a preview shows the women arriving at the Bachelor Mansion and checking out their new living arrangements.
Initially, they seemed excited as they ran through the gates, with one saying: “Holy toledo.”
“The mansion,” Natascha said to the camera, “I can’t believe I’m actually here”
Once they got to the bedrooms, though, their excitment was quickly squashed.
The video panned around the room, showing some normal beds and even some bunk beds in one big room.
Plus, the mattresses looked thin and uncomfortable.
“There’s bunkbeds,” Sandra, 75, said pointing. “Is this the closet space?”
To the camera, she added: “Um uh how’s this gunna work because we’ve got four women, no drawers…”
One of the women asked Sandra if she liked top or bottom, to which she said bottom because she can’t climb up.
She added to the camera: “Didn’t want to be on top, I’ve had my knees replaced. It’s a lot of climbing.”
Another woman came in and announced that she gets the bunkbed which didn’t seem happy about, while someone shouted: “We’re too old for that!”
Exploring the rest of the mansion, the women packed into the shower and accidentally took down the shower curtain rod.
Fans online were even more upset for the contestants.
“This is elder abuse, those beds are literally plastic camp mattresses,” someone commented on the Instagram post.
Another wrote: “C’mon ABC – These are women of leisure and life – Not broke 20-somethings that have slumber parties – Please supply some glam fixes.”
The women didn’t seemed too phased by the living arrangements, at least not on camera, as one exclaimed the bedrooms were “pink like Barbie” while contestant April said to the camera: “This is like big girl camp.”
Fans agreed, with one commenting: “I’m shocked they put bunk beds for these women. Seriously? Yes, these women are still very full of vigor but that’s just not proper.”
Another fan tweeted: “Cmonnn ABC, you telling me you don’t have single bed money? How you gonna put these ladies in bunkbeds?!”
The Golden Bachelor is pre-recorded, so there’s nothing that the producers of the show can do about the uncomfortable living conditions.
