Elon Musk’s ‘dark’ cameo in popular sitcom ‘really hasn’t aged well’ – ‘like spoiled milk’

Some fans of the hit TV show have retrospectively taken issue with the SpaceX CEO’s part in the show

Elon Musk’s “dark” cameo in a popular US sitcom “really hasn’t aged well,” according to some disgruntled viewers.

The Tesla CEO appeared in the Big Bang Theory episode titled “The Platonic Permutation” in 2015. Musk guest stars as himself in the episode and enters a soup kitchen with Howard.

The episode features a subplot where one of the guys invades Penny’s privacy after becoming too curious about the inner workings of her life. The episode has themes of privacy concerns, tech moguls, and snooping.

Some avid viewers have retrospectively taken issue with Musk’s part in the hit show.

Musk is now the owner of X, previously Twitter, and has been granted a role in Trump’s administration to run the Department of Government Efficiency, a newly created body tasked with cutting back federal bureaucracy in 2025.

One individual took to Reddit to air their suspicions about life imitating art. In a thread titled ‘The Elon Musk cameo episode really hasn’t aged well,’ the user said: “I’m binging the series once again and it’s been a while, but with how much Elon has said and done in…I guess just the past year alone, gives his cameo a bit of a dark humor.

“I mean hey maybe the guy is actually a bit of a goof in real life, but a dumb goof. Won’t say too much, don’t want this post to go sour. Just funny the character he played for that bit is…quite the opposite”.

One user responded: “It was already spoiled milk by the time it aired. The man could not recite his lines with any semblance of skill, and you can’t use the excuse that he’s not an actor because it’s not like he was the only scientist/tech cameo on the show.”

Another chimed in: “Hey we watched this episode yesterday! The whole cameo just came across as insincere. Felt like he took the opportunity to try and project this version of himself that he wanted people to see. Back in 2015 when the episode aired he was more of a mystery to a lot of people. I could be wrong but at least for me I really didn’t know anything about him until COVID started, and I spent a lot more time on social media.”

A third gave their view: “I think the change in opinion on Musk says more about the people sharing their opinions than about Musk himself. He was never a “cool” billionaire. People ate the hype and then had to have a strong opinion against him when his views proved to be controversial.”

Musk also appeared as himself in the 2017 Young Sheldon episode titled “A Patch, a Modem, and a Zantac”.
