Pittsburgh chef has left Gordon Ramsay’s ‘Hell’s Kitchen’
A Pittsburgh chef’s participation in celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s popular show has ended.
PITTSBURGH, PA – The lobster proved to be the last straw for Mattias Butts of Ross, who was eliminated from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s hit Fox TV show “Hell’s Kitchen.”
Butts, a chef at Alta Via in Fox Chapel, was fired by Ramsay on the show’s most recent episode for bringing Ramsay some undercooked lobster he had prepared. According to HellsKitchenFandom.com, Ramsay smashed it against his chest, almost foreshadowing his fate.
For those who don’t know, “Hell’s Kitchen” is a reality cooking competition show. It consists of two teams of chefs working in a kitchen set up in a television studio.
The elimination format cuts the 20 schools down to a single winner over the course of each season. In a typical episode, two contestants are nominated for elimination, after which Ramsay eliminates one from the show.
According to the website, Butts was eliminated for his live lobster dish and there was no improvement in the three offerings he prepared on the show.
“Mattias had three serves to impress me,” Ramsay said in eliminating him from the show. “Unfortunately, he struck out.”
