Kevin Costner Is Reportedly Vying for an Unexpected 180 When It Comes to His Next Career Move
After stirring some major beef with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, and subsequently leaving the show, Kevin Costner is reportedly interested in making a return.
According to Puck News, Costner, who starred as John Dutton from season one until the first half of season 5, is vying for a cameo to wrap up his character at the end of season 5.

“Even if Costner significantly lowers his financial and time commitment demands, Sheridan may not want to bother reopening his finished scripts to accommodate a send-off for John Dutton,” an insider told the outlet. “But the Yellowstone fans would certainly love it, which Costner knows and hopes to leverage, as he always does.”
As a reminder, while Costner’s cameo would surely be a surprise to fans, it’s not the first time the actor asked to come back to the show. Last year, for example, sources told Puck News that “Costner’s reps were basically begging” for his return on the show. Discussions between Sheridan and Costner ended, however, when Coster presented a list of “aggressive demands” including approval of the script and more money.
And, according to earlier sources close to the Paramount+ show, Sheridan might not be the only person on Yellowstone against Costner’s return. A source to Life & Style revealed earlier this month that Costner’s co-stars including Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, and Wes Bentley felt betrayed by his sudden exit, and have somewhat iced him out of their friendships.
“He used to hear from Cole and the rest of the gang — but they’ve cut him loose in the months since he walked away from the show,” the insider revealed. They’re making no effort to see him and don’t get excited when he calls. They’ve drifted away.”
With the creator and the cast of the show still upset over his departure, it seems like Costner’s chances to return are slim to none.
