Home Sweet Home: Joan and Chock’s Exciting Journey to Find Their Dream Apartment

Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple, stars of The Golden Bachelorette, are embarking on a new chapter together as they search for their first home in New York City. After getting engaged during the show’s finale in Bora Bora, they are now on the hunt for the perfect place to start their married life.

Joan, a 61-year-old school administrator, shared an exclusive update with E! News at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball in Los Angeles on December 6, revealing that they may have found their dream apartment. “We think we found a place,” she said. With a realtor’s help, Joan and Chock viewed a video tour of the property and were hopeful it would be the one.

The couple has some differing priorities for their future home. While Chock, 60, dreams of a smoking patio for social gatherings, Joan’s must-have is a spacious walk-in closet. “I want him to have the patio upstairs,” Joan explained, “but if we find a place without one, the walk-in closet wins.” Despite their preferences, they’re committed to finding a home that suits them both.

“The inventory is super low this time of year,” Joan admitted, “so we’re just keeping our fingers crossed that we get it. Hopefully, this is the one.” In just three weeks, Joan and Chock viewed 20 different places before discovering this potential gem in SoHo, a neighborhood they love.

For Joan and Chock, moving into a home is more than just a practical step; it’s about building a space for their relationship to flourish. “We have our families around all the time, and we’re super lucky to have that,” Joan shared. “But to just be us a little bit will be really nice, and to have the whole city as our place to play is gonna be great.”

Their apartment hunt has had its humorous moments too. Chock revealed he learned the hard way not to borrow Joan’s phone charger. “I took her cell phone charger. I’ll never do that again,” he joked. Joan added, “He knows it’s a pet peeve of mine. I think I have PTSD from when my kids were growing up and every time I came down to the kitchen, one of their friends had stolen my charger.”

While they’re focused on finding the right apartment, Joan and Chock are taking their time when it comes to planning their wedding. “That’s TBD,” Joan said, noting that they’re enjoying being a couple away from the cameras. “Right now, it just feels good to just be a couple and not have cameras all around and just to hang out and be us for a little while. So I think in a year-ish.”

Chock, who gave Joan a “Chock lock”—a keychain with a heart-shaped lock—as a symbol of his commitment before proposing, expressed excitement about their new life. “I think it’s going to be fun to watch Joan handle all this—from the furnishings to everything else to where we live,” he said. “You pick exactly what you want. This is yours. It was my gift to you.”

As the couple settles into their future, they’ll spend the holiday season in Maryland at Joan’s house, with plenty of exciting moments ahead. Fans of The Golden Bachelorette can’t wait to see where Joan and Chock’s love story goes next.
