‘Foreshadow?’: Young Sheldon Fans Concerned Series Star Spoiled George’s Death Scene
A social media post from a Young Sheldon star has fans wondering if it foreshadows the death of George Cooper.
Fans are worried that George Cooper’s death scene for Young Sheldon has been spoiled.
Ahead of the seventh and final season of Young Sheldon, fans were already expecting to say farewell to George Cooper (Lance Barber), given how The Big Bang Theory established that the character died during Sheldon’s childhood. With the show now in its final season, the scene’s arrival appears to be imminent, though it remains to be seen how the series kills off George. Per Screen Rant, fans of the series on Reddit have taken notice of a post on Raegan Revord’s (Missy) social media stories shared from the set of Season 7. The post revealed Revord pranking Barber by scaring him, and she captioned the post with, “GIVING LANCE AN EARLY HEART ATTACK.”
Fans are wondering in the comments section if this is slyly alluding to George’s on-screen death in a future Young Sheldon episode. “Interesting way to confirm a plot point,” as one commenter speculates, while another asks, “Foreshadow?” An added post from a more concerned fan went on to state, “Is she trying to say something since he’s suppose to die? not funny missy!”
George’s Death Will Be Addressed in Young Sheldon
There are some other fans of George sharing their hopes that the character will manage to survive the season, perhaps suggesting his death will take place after the events of the series. However, it was confirmed ahead of the season’s airing that George Cooper’s death will be addressed. Executive producer Steve Holland previously told TVLine that the team felt “beholden” to acknowledge the plot points established by The Big Bang Theory, notably including George’s passing, though he couldn’t say exactly what will be shown on the screen when it comes to the tragic event.
“I don’t want to say what you will or won’t see, but things will get addressed,” as Holland explained. “We are not beholden to every joke that was ever made on The Big Bang Theory, but we do feel beholden to the larger canon and the larger events that shape Sheldon’s life.”
He added, “That is a thing that happens in Sheldon’s life. This is the same character [from Big Bang]. We are living in the same universe as Big Bang and that sort of world building is important. Big things that [adult Sheldon said] happened in his life without a doubt happened.”
Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that the series finale will link back to The Big Bang Theory in a major way. Jim Parsons will reprise his role as the adult Sheldon Cooper in the final episode, joined by Mayim Bialik as Amy. The finale will air on May 16.
