Lainey Wilson’s return to Yellowstone is possible and could change a character’s fate
“Yellowstone” has an ever-evolving cast. While there’s been a steady stream of central and supporting players since the beginning, each new season of the hit neo-Western adds more compelling characters to the mix. This includes the latest installment, which introduces a country singer named Abby (Lainey Wilson) as the love interest of Ryan (Ian Bohen), a longtime member of the bunkhouse.
However, at the midseason break, it appeared that Abby and Ryan had gone their separate ways after he went on a cattle drive to Texas. However, Wilson doesn’t think her sassy cowgirl singer has to leave “Yellowstone” forever. In fact, the showrunner seems pretty optimistic that Abby could return for the second part of Season 5.
“I realized that the television business is just as crazy, if not crazier, than the music business,” Wilson told Country Living. The singer added that she’s “waiting for [‘Yellowstone’] creator Taylor Sheridan to give me the green light, and between the tour and everything, we’ll figure it out.”

It’s not uncommon for “Yellowstone” characters to exit before returning somewhere along the way. After all, both Mia (Eden Brolin) and Walker (Ryan Bingham) were away from the farm for a long time before returning.
With that in mind, it seems like Lainey Wilson isn’t that worried that her character was written out of Yellowstone. “I haven’t gotten a call yet,” Wilson told Entertainment Weekly. “But as far as I know, they don’t even know when they’ll film it.”
It’s been confirmed that Season 5, Part 2 of “Yellowstone” has yet to begin filming, and with the recent shake-up between stars Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan, it looks like there will be more time to fill than previously expected. . Furthermore, Wilson hinted that she may know more than she’s allowed to share about everything going on in the popular series.
“I have a really good feeling that if they get things done the way they planned, you know, I’ll get back to it,” she suggested. “We’ll see, they haven’t taken me to the train station yet.” While it’s unlikely we’ll see a character as sweet as Abby go to the final resting place of so many other “Yellowstone” residents, it’s welcome news for fans that she may end up reconnected with Ryan before the season ended.
