Star Wars: Daisy Ridley Addresses Question About Returning Co-Stars in Rey Skywalker Movie

Rey actor Daisy Ridley tiptoes around a question about whether she will miss working with her sequel trilogy co-stars in her upcoming Star Wars movie.

Daisy Ridley recently addressed a question that could have indicated whether any of her Star Wars sequel trilogy co-stars would be returning alongside her for Lucasfilm’s upcoming Rey Skywalker movie.

During an interview with Variety about her upcoming movie Sometimes I Think About Dying, Ridley was asked if it would be weird to make a Star Wars movie without Adam Driver, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac, all three of whom starred alongside Ridley in the sequel trilogy. “No, because I don’t know what is what or who is who [in the new movie],” the actor replied, masterfully tip-toeing around the question while leaving fans to ponder what she means by “who is who.”

A new report reveals how much Daisy Ridley is set to make for reprising her role as Rey Skywalker in another Star Wars movie.

Ridley continued to avoid the question by addressing how much she had grown as an actor since she first joined Star Wars a decade ago. “So much has happened for me [since the Skywalker saga]. I feel like a grown-up now. When I first started, I was, like, 20. I was the youngest on set,” she explained. “It took me the first two Star Wars films to feel worthy of being there. Now I’m in my 30s. The whole thing feels quite different. I’ve been able to work with other filmmakers, and hopefully, I’ve got better as a performer.”

Star Wars Is Heading Beyond The Rise of Skywalker
The upcoming Star Wars movie, and Ridley’s return as Rey, was officially announced by Lucasfilm at Star Wars Celebration 2023. While plot details are scarce, the movie will reportedly follow Ridley’s Rey as she rebuilds the Jedi Order, with the character stepping into a mentor role similar to the one Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker played in the original and sequel trilogies, respectively. The sequel will also be set 15 years after the events of 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker — the ninth and final installment in The Skywalker Saga. At the time of writing, Ridley remains the only actor attached to the untitled Star Wars movie, although a lot of fans have been campaigning for John Boyega to return as Finn.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is directing the untitled Star Wars movie from a screenplay written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. Ridley recently admitted that she probably wouldn’t have signed on for the new movie if Obaid-Chinoy wasn’t involved. “I’m excited to do the job, but not because Sharmeen is a woman,” she said. “Her documentaries are amazing. Her idea for the story is cool as sh**. No spoilers, but she gave me a rundown of the entire story. If it weren’t amazing, I would have been like, ‘OK, call me in five years.’ But it’s worthwhile.”

The Rey Skywalker movie does not yet have a release date.
