Will Trent Season 3’s New Casting All But Confirms The End Of Will & Angie’s Relationship

Will Trent Season 3’s New Casting All But Confirms The End Of Will & Angie’s Relationship

Viewers will be introduced to some new faces when Will Trent season 3 premieres, and one of them suggests Will and Angie’s tiresome on-and-off relationship has permanently entered an “off” period. The ABC police procedural TV show, created by Karin Slaughter, Liz Heldens, and Daniel T. Thomsen, is based on Slaughter’s book series of the same name, which follows Will Trent, a keen-eyed GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation) agent. Ramón Rodríguez stars as the eponymous character in the cast of Will Trent, while Erika Christensen plays Will’s love interest and childhood friend, Angie.
Will and Angie grew up in the foster system together, which is why they have such a close bond. However, their relationship is far from perfect. Some might even call Will and Angie’s dynamic toxic — he is always trying to fix her, and she is always pushing him away. Will and Angie’s bond was born out of trauma. As proven by the on-and-off nature of their romance, that’s not the best way to start and maintain a relationship. It’s time for Will and Angie to break up for good in Will Trent, and season 3 is set to do so.

Scott Foley Was Cast As Angie’s New Love Interest In Will Trent Season 3
Foley Will Play Dr. Seth McDale

According to Deadline, ABC has cast Scott Foley to play Dr. Seth McDale in the cast of Will Trent season 3. Foley’s role will be recurring, and his character is being described as Angie’s new love interest. Per his character description, Seth is “the confident and down-to-earth head of emergency medicine at a local hospital.”

In the world of TV, Foley is probably most known for his role as Jake Ballard in the ABC political thriller series Scandal. However, some may recognize the actor from Scream 3, where he played Roman Bridger, or other TV shows such as The Unit, Scrubs, and Felicity. Now, Foley joins the cast of Will Trent season 3 to act opposite Erika Christensen’s Angie.

Will Trent Season 3’s New Character Seals Will & Angie’s Fate
The Season 2 Finale Seemingly Ruined Will & Angie’s Relationship For Good

With Scott Foley’s casting, it appears as though Will and Angie’s relationship is over in Will Trent. Of course, following the ending of Will Trent season 2, their breakup seemed like it would stick. Will discovered that Angie helped cover up Lenny’s murder in season 1 to help Crystal, who killed Lenny. Will learned the truth after it was revealed that Crystal was the serial killer targeting sex offenders in Georgia. Angie tried to help the young teenager once more, but while running away, Crystal slipped and hit her head. Crystal died, and Will was left with two options.

If Will arresting Angie didn’t seal their fate, her getting a new love interest in Will Trent season 3 certainly does.At first, Will envisioned the life he could have with Angie if he didn’t turn her in. They got married, had kids, and grew old together. However, that was just a fantasy, and when Will returned to real life, he tearfully arrested Angie for tampering with evidence and making false statements concerning Lenny’s murder. If Will arresting Angie didn’t seal their fate, her getting a new love interest in Will Trent season 3 certainly does.

Will Is Also Getting A New Love Interest In Season 3
Gina Rodriguez Will Play Marion Alba

Angie might not be the only one getting a new romantic interest in season 3 as another new cast member will catch Will’s eye. Will Trent season 3 will introduce Gina Rodriguez as Marion Alba, a “charismatic, confident Assistant District Attorney new to Atlanta,” per her character description. Although Will and Marion’s first meeting doesn’t go well, the two are forced to team up to investigate a gang-related crime in Atlanta. Perhaps Will and Marion don’t get off on the right foot. But over time, the two characters might get to know one another better, resulting in a blossoming romance.
