In the world of Bachelor finales, decisions are often drawn out with dramatic pauses and last-minute twists. But Joan Vassos’ season of The Golden Bachelorette concluded with a surprisingly drama-free moment, as she confidently chose Chock Chapple after a heartfelt final date in Bora Bora. Though the connection between Joan and Chock seemed clear to viewers, it wasn’t until an intimate, unseen kiss that Chock was truly convinced of Joan’s feelings.
“I didn’t know if she loved me yet, and I didn’t know where Guy stood, so there was some uncertainty,” Chock shared during an exclusive interview. “But then that kiss said it all. No one kisses you like that if they’re not interested.”
Joan, meanwhile, added a humorous note about the kiss: “It’s probably a good thing no one saw it — my kids would have been mortified!” This sweet moment followed a meaningful first date at Disneyland, where the couple bonded over dreams of bringing their families together. The connection they shared grew quickly, culminating in Chock’s proposal. ABC even made those Disneyland dreams come true by gifting the couple a trip there during After the Final Rose.
Now, with their engagement official, Joan and Chock are focused on blending their families and enjoying life together before diving into wedding planning. “We have kids that are very similar, and they’ve already developed a friendship,” Joan shared. “They’re going to be stepbrothers and sisters one day, which is funny at this age, but they’re all excited.”
The couple’s next big plans involve the holidays, as they’ll spend time in New York and with their families. Though a wedding isn’t immediately on the horizon, they’ve already started thinking about when to revisit the discussion. Chock mentioned, “We’ve got a lot of family plans, so after the first of the year, we’ll start talking about the wedding seriously. It’s a big decision — how to do it, where to do it, and how many people to invite.”
Joan and Chock are content with their current focus: being a couple. “Planning a wedding is a big job, and we’re a little tired after all that’s happened in the last few months,” Joan said. “We’re looking forward to just being together for a while.”
Regarding the drama that unfolded on the show, particularly Pascal Ibgui’s comments about Chock being a “stalker,” Chock wasn’t fazed. “I didn’t pay much attention to that. It’s his business. We all say things we wish we could take back, but I wish him the best,” Chock responded.
As for funny moments that have been on their minds post-engagement, Chock joked, “I’ve got something X-rated, but I’ll keep it to myself!” Joan added, “We’re just so compatible. You could see it at Disneyland — it’s like we’ve been married for years already.”
Chock playfully remarked, “And I’m very trainable,” to which Joan quipped, “He’s like a puppy. He doesn’t have accidents in the house anymore!”
With their bond growing stronger each day, the couple is savoring the moment before tackling the next big steps in their relationship.
