Hannah Brown says Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner is ‘America’s grandpa’

The former Bachelorette made her first reappearance on the franchise last week on Paradise after her messy breakup. She said in exclusive podcast interview that she’s ‘obsessed’ with the Golden Bachelor.

Following former Bachelorette Hannah Brown’s return to the franchise last week, she did an exclusive podcast interview where she raved about the first-ever Golden Bachelor, Gerry Turner.

“Y’all, I’m obsessed,” the Alabama-born alum said on the franchise’s Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. “He’s like America’s grandpa. We have to protect him at all costs.”

She added that Gerry and the woman are “so attractive,” but, above all, she loves the way they “view life and love.”

Gerry, 72, is a retired restaurateur who lives in his “dream home” on lake in Indiana. However, the home has felt empty ever since he lost his wife, Tony – who was his high-school sweetheart – six years ago. Now, he is looking for a second shot at love, with nearly two dozen women to chose from.

Fans, as well as former and current contestants alike, felt skeptical about whether or not the franchise’s new Golden Bachelor series would be a hit.

Yet, the series debut doubled the franchise’s average viewership, attracting 11.1 million streamers for its premiere on September 28.

“I knew right away as soon as these women got out of the limo, I was like, ‘This is a homerun. These women are awesome,’” said Jesse Palmer, Bachelor franchise host, on the same podcast a few weeks prior.

Similarly, Hannah said: “You can tell they’re a lot more comfortable in their skin.”

The Bachelor premiered on March 25, 2002, on ABC. The series has since become a mega franchise with 27 seasons of The Bachelor, 20 seasons of The Bachelorette, and 9 seasons of the summer spinoff serie’s Bachelor in Paradise.

The show typically attracts men and women in their 20s-30s looking for love, but, finally, after two decades, the Bachelor production team decided older men and women deserve a chance to find love on live television, too.

While nothing is confirmed yet, many speculate that the success of The Golden Bachelor will pave the way for a Golden Bachelorette series in the future.
