Popular Fan Theory Suggests the Death of Beloved ‘Blue Bloods’ Character in Season 14

With the Blue Bloods series finale fast approaching, viewers are wondering if all of the characters will make it out of the show alive.

One popular fan theory suggests that one of the characters might get the ax at the end of season 14. Many are speculating that Luis Badillo, played by Ian Quinlan, might possibly die in the line of duty. He first joined the show in season 12 and currently serves as Eddie Janko’s partner. His potential death would be equally heartbreaking and shocking for all.

On October 10, Entertainment Weekly released a full trailer teasing what’s to come in the final episodes of Blue Bloods season 14. At the 48-second mark in the trailer, it appears Badillo is lying flat on the ground with his gun at his side as someone rushes up to him to make sure he is OK, which looks to be Eddie.

Judging based on the quick glimpse of the scene alone, it does seem like the character might be in trouble. However, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens as the season comes to an end on CBS.

Cast member Len Cariou, who portrays Henry Reagan on the series, did say that a funeral scene was filmed during his final day on set. He did not go into further detail about specifics.

“The last scene, of course, was at a funeral, and so we weren’t even in the house the day that we wrapped it up,” he told TV Insider on November 1. “I was finished that day myself and several of the others, Tom [Selleck]‘s group of guys, Bridget [Moynahan] and Steve [Schirripa], and the others, they were done that day, too, before the rest of the episode was finished.”

“So it was kind of strange in that sense, just like any other day, any other week. And we had just kind of gotten used to the fact that we had said our goodbyes, if you will, with not a lot of emotional times together,” he reflected. “So we said, OK, that’s over and done with, and we’ll stay in touch if we can.”

Others online think Henry’s character might potentially get killed off. Many cast members have hinted that something big is to come in the show’s final episodes.

“I think that fans will feel somewhat satisfied … but then you’re going to want more,” Bridget, 53, told TVLine Spotlight on November 7 of the series finale. “There are these nuggets where people are going to be like, ‘Yes!!!’ And then the show’s over. It’s going to be bittersweet in some ways.”

Vanessa Ray also shared that emotions were running high at the final Reagan family dinner, and that there were some special “guests.”

“Well, it was like we’re all kind of dead men walking into it. Listen, there was a lot of celebration. There was a lot of joy and laughter and just a sense of accomplishment for sure,” she told TV Insider on October 18. “But it was absolutely heart wrenching to wrap that final family dinner. And we had some guests at the dinner, and so like I said, people had been giving speeches and stuff. And so one of our guest stars started us off just by thanking the show for what it has done for so many people. And that was really, really kind and nice to give us perspective of sometimes you do a show for so long or you are in [it], you’re around this table, you get so insular.”
