‘I’m OCD, Too!’ SEAL Team’s Ray Perry on Personal Struggles Away From His CBS Role
The actor describes the similarities he sees in himself and specifically in Navy SEALs, their OCD nature of wanting things to be symmetrical and neat.
He also talks about duty and honor, something he feels he got from his father, which is reflected in his on-screen persona.
Speaking on the show’s official Instagram channel, he was answering fan questions about the series as he allowed them to delve a little deeper.
“I’m basically playing my dad on the show, so there are some similarities between us in terms of duty and wanting to do things right,” Neil said. “I’m actually a little OCD myself.
“I like things to be symmetrical and in place, so that’s what I put into Ray and of course we have similar beliefs, so there’s some similarities. “I’d say there’s about 20 percent of me in Ray.” The actor went on to praise his father for instilling in him the qualities that made Ray Perry the soldier he is for Bravo Team. “I really learned that from my dad because he’s the greatest man I know,” he continued. In the show’s latest installation, he helps his fellow soldiers fend off an ambush in Mali. Jason’s most trusted friend and greatest ally, the character is the longest-tenured member of Bravo Team and has returned to service after a leave of absence at Jason’s request. The season five finale marked the last time fans caught a glimpse of the team before eagerly awaiting their return for the next installation. In the final episode, Bravo Unit was sent back to Mali, where they will stay until the season six opener. On the way, Clay informs team leader Jason that his assignment with the unit is for a while as he will be transferring to Blue Team. Upon landing in the country, Bravo is traveling in two vehicles when one explodes and they are suddenly ambushed by several well-armed tangos.
Jason is shot in the shoulder and it appears that Clay has shrapnel in his eye.
Things get worse for the team when the incident turns into a critical situation and the enemy starts throwing rockets at Bravo Team.
The scene switches between a war zone and Stella’s joyful baby shower, setting the stage for the epic season six opener.
