Bridgerton’s Luke Newton has changed his lifestyle to look like Colin

Luke Newton has admitted that he has completely changed his lifestyle to look like Colin in Bridgerton.

The actor sent fans into a frenzy with his glamorous on-screen persona when Season 3 dropped on Netflix earlier this year. Luke, 31, asked People magazine for their Sexiest Man Alive issue and shared how being one of the Bridgerton boys has changed his life.

Luke admitted that Colin “changed and became a man, and I wanted to show that physically” as he described his experience navigating the global fame that comes with the role.

Luke confessed that finally dressing up as Colin, who has found love with Nicola Coughlan’s Penelope Featherington in the current series, helped him change. He said: “I think I had a moment going into the new season where I was like, ‘It’s been a long time. How am I going to get back into this?’

“But I just trust the process, knowing that as soon as I put on the first costume, everything is going to change. And that always happens, no matter how many rehearsals or script readings we have. It really changes when you put on those costumes.”

Luke says that on the show he’s most like his character, which he takes as a compliment. However, he likes to think he’s “probably less pushy and a little bit more strong-willed.”

While the actor is always welcome on our television screens, he revealed that if he wasn’t acting, he’d want to be a singer, admitting that “it’s like a retreat, but it’s musical. I love singing.”

When it comes to his fans, Luke is very appreciative of the support he’s received from Bridgerton lovers, but he admits that he once had a very real experience with a fan who thought he was someone else entirely. He said: “I also had a driver when I was in Paris, and I shared a car with Ed McVey, who’s in The Crown. So we were both chatting in the back of the car, and I think the driver was eavesdropping on our conversation.”

“And then, at the end of the trip, he dropped me off at the airport, and when we got out, he said, ‘Do you mind if I take a picture of my wife? She loves The Crown.’ And I just said, ‘Okay,’ knowing full well that I wasn’t in The Crown, and his wife would be devastated if she saw a picture of me and her husband.

“Yeah, it was a real reality check, and it was pretty cool. Bring me back down to earth.”
