10 Twilight Characters Whose Spinoffs Would Be More Interesting Than The Original Movies
The Twilight Saga is dull in comparison to the rich backstories of many of the supporting cast, who could be the focus of several successful spinoffs.
Stephenie Meyer introduced a large cast of characters in The Twilight Saga, including many interesting vampires and werewolves. The supporting cast includes several acclaimed actors who could certainly carry their own Twilight spinoffs. Some of the audience might be frustrated by the movies when they want to see more of their favorite side characters.
10. Alice Cullen
While Alice’s backstory is explained in the Twilight novels, it is left out of the movies. In the first book, Alice does not remember who she was before becoming a vampire, but eventually discovers that she was born Mary Alice Brandon in 1901. She had some precognitive abilities as a human which led to her being committed. A vampire who worked at the asylum where Alice was held grew to care for her.
9. Charlie Swan
Bella’s father Charlie (Billy Burke) remains relatively unaware of Forks’ vampire activity throughout the series. It is worth noting that the sheriff/police chief of a small town plagued with vampires has had an important role in series such as The Vampire Diaries and True Blood. Comparatively, Charlie is sidelined in The Twilight Saga. While he suspects that Bella and the Cullens are supernatural, he does not ask too many questions.
8. Garrett Of The Denali Coven
Garrett (Lee Pace) is a former nomadic vampire who appeared in Breaking Dawn Part 2. Garrett and Carlisle Cullen (Peter Facinelli) met during the Revolutionary War after Garrett was accidentally turned by an unknown vampire during a battle. Garrett supposedly spends many years on his own, which would provide ample material for a spinoff. He becomes interested by the Cullens’ and the Denalis’ lifestyle of living off of human blood and falls in love with Kate (Casey LaBow) of the Denalis.
7. Victoria
Victoria is portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, replacing Rachelle Lefevre. Despite Edward suggests that James only kept Victoria around because she was useful (in the novel), Victoria is determined to save her mate. She is ruthless and clever, using Riley to create her army of newborns, so Alice will not be able to foresee her involvement.
6. Jane Of The Volturi
Jane (Dakota Fanning) and her twin brother Alec (Cameron Bright) were both turned by Aro (Michael Sheen) at a young age because they showed the potential to be powerful vampires. Jane is regarded within the Volturi because of her ability to cause intense pain; those around her are constantly afraid of angering her. She is also expertly portrayed by Fanning.
5. Leah Clearwater
Leah is the only female member of the Quileute werewolf pack. She and her brother Seth (Booboo Stewart) are the first to join Jacob’s (Taylor Lautner) pack, separate from Sam’s (Chaske Spencer). Leah grapples with heartbreak and grief: She was abandoned by Sam when he was imprinted on Emily (Tinsel Korey) and her werewolf transformation was triggered by her father’s death.
4. Vladimir Of The Romanian Coven
Vladimir (Noel Fisher) and Stefan (Guri Weinberg) are the only remaining members of the Romanian Coven. This coven was the ruling force in the vampire world before they were almost all killed by the Volturi.
3. Benjamin Of The Egyptian Coven
Rami Malek plays the small role of Benjamin in Breaking Dawn Part 2, a vampire who can control the elements. He is also the focus of the Storytellers short film Sunrise. Benjamin has one of the most interesting abilities seen in Twilight. His life as a human and transformation are the makings of a great story, especially since vampires in Twilight demonstrate some indication of their specific supernatural gifts while they are still human. Additionally, Malek is a brilliant actor who could certainly lead a longer movie or series about Benjamin and his mate Tia (Angela Sarafyan), and their coven mates Amun (Omar Metwally) and Kebi (Andrea Gabriel).
2. Aro Of The Volturi
Aro, the leader of the Volturi, is portrayed by acclaimed actor Michael Sheen. Aro’s rise to power included killing his own sister to prevent her from leaving the Volturi with Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl). He also regularly seeks out humans with the potential to have powerful gifts like vampires. He and the Volturi are swift and brutal when dealing with any threat. For example, they eliminated Victoria and her sister Anne’s entire coven and executed the Denalis’ mother after she created an immortal child.
1. Jasper Hale
Jasper’s backstory is also covered in the Twilight books and movies, but it could be expanded into a longer format. He was born Jasper Whitlock but later used Rosalie’s (Nikki Reed) surname, so they can tell the people of Forks that they are siblings. Jasper was a major in the Confederate Army before he was turned by the vampire Maria (Catalina Sandino Moreno).
