Ready for ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4? We’ve Got Our First Official Look at Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek

We know we’ve had to keep this one a secret from you for a long time, dear readers, but now we can take off our masks to reveal…

Sophie Baek! Bridgerton season four has finally found its leading lady in Yerin Ha, and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce her. For most of her life, Sophie, who fans of the series will remember as Sophie Beckett, has been forced to work as a maid for one of the most demanding employers in high society. But Sophie’s resourcefulness has helped her overcome her circumstances—circumstances that change dramatically after she makes the fateful (and risky!) decision to disguise herself to attend Lady Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball. There, she meets Benedict Bridgerton—still clueless, still unknowing—and changes both of their lives.

Here, we get a sneak peek of what we can expect from the plucky maid with dreams far beyond her station.

In this first official video, Ha may be dressed in her regular clothes, but there’s no mistaking her costumed alter ego, thanks to those silver shoes and gloves. Maybe it’s the sincerity on her face, or maybe it’s the dress rack, but either way, it’s a thrilling moment in season four.

A South Korean actor from Australia, Ha is best known for her role as Kwan Ha alongside Pablo Schreiber in the epic Paramount+ series Halo. And before she hits our Netflix feed alongside Luke Thompson as Benedict in season four of Bridgerton, she’ll be starring in HBO’s highly anticipated prequel series Dune: Prophecy alongside our very own Charithra Chandran, who played Edwina Sharma in season two of Bridgerton.

Ha grew up in Sydney with acting in her blood — her parents met in drama school, and her grandmother was an actress too! — so by the time she was 15, she knew she wanted to pursue acting as a career. After moving back to Korea, Ha was accepted into Kaywon High School for the Arts and then returned to Sydney to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at the Sydney National Academy of Dramatic Art, which has produced Cate Blanchett, Murray Bartlett, Sam Worthington, and many other notable actors.

Before landing her first television role in the short-lived French-American crime drama Reef Break, Ha co-starred in the stage play Lord of the Flies with Mia Wasikowska and Eliza Scanlen at the Sydney Theatre Company. And now, we’re thrilled to welcome her to the Shondaland family and have her play a pivotal role in Benedict’s love story in season four.
