‘Chicago Fire’ Star Reveals What Happened to Carver’s Feelings for Stella in Season 13
Chicago Fire teased some of Sam Carver’s feelings for his lieutenant when he joined the fire department in Season 11. But in Season 13, Carver dated two women and it seems like he no longer has feelings for Stella. Jake Lockett spoke to TV Line about this storyline, which could have rocked the entire show but seems to be dead. First, anything involving Stella automatically involves Severide, and that’s something Carver will address. “Everybody who knows the show knows Severide is a tough guy, so it’s not the best move,” Lockett began with a confession. However, the feelings may not matter whether Severide is there or not. The actor spoke about whether Carver loved Stella, saying,
“I think there’s history… I think love is a powerful force — not that I’m saying it doesn’t exist. But I think, really, what’s there is history and not finding closure in the past history, and then coming into this situation, feeling like, ‘Oh my gosh, all this is happening again. How am I going to deal with it?’ I think it worked out for the best for Carver, for sure, and I’m certainly happy with that. But I think it’s just a matter of him dealing with past emotions that he hasn’t closed the book on,”
Jake Lockett thought pairing Carver with Violet was for the best.
A light bulb went off that lit something between Carver and Violet, and a will/won’t decision began. Lockett appreciated the twist. “I feel good about it. I love working with Hanako [Greensmith]. She’s incredible, and Violet is a rare character. She’s someone who has no holds barred, who’s willing to take on anyone. She fits Sam really well in that persona, so I think that’s good. I’m excited about it. It’s a great transition,” the actor said. The change was the best move for Carver because it gave him some room to grow and saved him some headaches, if not his job. Lockett spoke about why this change is good for Carver, saying,
“I think it also gives Carver an opportunity to grow in different ways because obviously there’s not a lot of future in the other situation. So him [saying], ‘Hey, I’m just going to rely on the fire station, in general, and having this organic thing come in’ is a really great change of pace.
However, it doesn’t seem like Violet’s situation is going well. Still, there’s room for more between Carver and Violet than Stella. Tune in to Chicago Fire Season 13 to see how Carver’s relationship with Violet progresses on NBC Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
