Netflix’s Virgin River season 6 release date confirmed and fans have ‘concerns’
Netflix has confirmed the release date for season six of Virgin River, and while fans are excited to see the next chapter, some admitted they have concerns
Virgin River enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement as the debut date for the eagerly-awaited season six has been unveiled and it’s slated to hit screens before this year bows out.
Fans of the much-loved Netflix series were treated to a teaser when its official Instagram handle shared fresh snapshots from the upcoming season, hinting at stirring moments ahead, including a poignant exchange between Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).
New images also disclose an endearing encounter featuring Vernon ‘Doc’ Mullins (Tim Matheson) alongside his spouse Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole) caring for a horse.
Moreover, Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) appears heavily pregnant compared to our last glimpse of her, whilst Preacher (Colin Lawrence) continues his blossoming relationship with Kaia Bryant (Kandyse McClure).
Not forgetting Jack’s sister Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen), Mike Valenzuela (Marco Grazzini), Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth), Muriel (Teryl Rothery), and Dr Cameron Hayek (Mark Ghanime) are all set for a comeback, reports the Mirror.
Accompanying the pictures, the caption on the post announced delightfully: “We’ve missed them so much! Get a first look at what’s ahead in season 6. Counting the days until Virgin River comes back December 19th.”
The anticipation was palpable among fans, who expressed their joy at receiving the sixth season of Virgin River just in time for the festive period.
However, even amidst the jubilation, some aficionados shared their trepidations sparked by the new sneak peeks and intriguing remarks from the cast members.
Conversations on Reddit have already begun, with one user expressing their sentiment: “Super excited. However, a little concerned about the Mel and Jack storyline.”
They claimed: “Listening to the ‘I Like You Very Much’ podcast (from Alexandra and Zibby ) interview with Martin, it seems that they don’t have a lot of scenes together.
“More like Mel and Jack go off in different directions to continue to resolve their own issues, then come back together.”
Another fan expressed their thoughts online: “Urgh that’s what I was thinking too!! But she did mention they have at least one steamy scene? So hope that makes up for it!
“It is conflicting though as reports have said it’s heavily around Jack / Mel again (and the writers have apparently listened), but who knows.”
The upcoming season will reportedly revolve around the anticipation of Mel and Jack’s nuptials, potentially leading them through individual story arcs before uniting them in a romantic climax for the 2024 series.
On Instagram, a viewer shared their ultimatum regarding the show’s direction: “If even one episode or two episodes is like last season’s I’m not watching it. So I hope the writers got it right this time.”
This prompted agreement from another fan, who reflected on the previous season’s tone: “I agree. The last season was hard to watch. It wasn’t like all the other seasons, it was almost depressing. I hated watching her lose another baby, it was too much.”
With the festive period approaching, audiences are hopeful that Virgin River will deliver a more uplifting experience in its latest offering.
