After Chicago Fire introduces a new enemy to Severide, could Stella pay the price?

Spoilers ahead for Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 6, titled “Birds of Prey.”

Chicago Fire managed to squeeze six episodes into Season 13 in its fall 2024 TV schedule without Pascal showing his cards often, but Severide got in touch with him at the end of the latest episode… even though Squad loyalists actually thought he was arresting the leader for consorting with dirty public servants. Severide pledged to help Pascal after he got the full story, and Stella could really pay the price for putting her husband on the path of a very bad man.

Pascal and Severide were together at the scene of the fire that had been extinguished when State Police Captain Bishop showed up to prevent them from further investigating the possible arson. Pascal then reacts suspiciously when Bishop mentions “Hendricks” and is cautious enough to let Severide investigate, resulting in Pascal seemingly colluding with Bishop in some very serious crimes.

And just when it seems like Severide might catch Pascal in time for Herrmann to take over as the next leader of 51 despite having one of the most positive reactions to Pascal’s appearance, Dermot Mulroney’s character actually confirms everything Severide said about Bishop being dirty and him being involved. It turns out that Pascal has been acting on his own suspicions and is working with Bishop’s Internal Affairs to find evidence and arrest him.

Pascal tries to dissuade Severide from getting involved any further, telling him that “Bishop is not afraid of violence and he doesn’t make empty threats,” and that Severide can’t tell anyone what he knows. Based on the teaser, the consequences will likely fall on Stella as Severide’s wife and Pascal’s wife rather than on either man. Whether or not you’re rewatching “Birds of Prey” with a Peacock subscription, here’s what’s coming:

When showrunner Andrea Newman previewed Stellaride’s journey in Season 13, I didn’t imagine they’d have to deal with complications like a dirty State Police captain and Severide having to keep secrets from her again! Bishop doesn’t exactly threaten Stella in the preview, but it’s hard not to worry after what Pascal revealed about him in “Birds of Prey.”

We’ll have to wait until the next episode to find out exactly what he meant when he told her in the teaser, and I can spend at least some of that time thinking about how Pascal would almost certainly react very differently if Stella confronted him the way Severide did. I still want to know what his problem is with her, especially since he might have some words for her after Carver’s latest slip of the tongue, and the story doesn’t seem to be over yet.
