Simone Ashley Hopes to Reprise Her ‘Bridgerton’ Roles with Jonathan Bailey in Season 4
Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey aren’t ready to say goodbye to their Bridgerton characters just yet.
The actress, who plays Kate in the hit Netflix series, shared at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, via People, whether she plans to continue her on-screen romance with Bailey’s Anthony in season four.
“I really hope so,” Ashley said of reprising their roles.
“Both Johnny and I, we love our characters, Kate and Anthony, and their relationship and what they mean to the show,” she continued. “I think we’re going to do everything we can with our schedules to make it work, hopefully.”
Kate and Anthony lead the romantic drama series in season two with an “enemies-to-lovers” storyline. They also appeared throughout season three, which focused on Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope’s (Nicola Coughlan) relationship. However, their future on the show remains up in the air, as their characters decided at the end of the latest season to travel from London to Kate’s home country of India to welcome their first child.
Another question fans are asking is which Bridgerton sibling will lead season four, with some speculating it will be Eloise or Benedict. But viewers will likely have to wait two years for an answer, according to showrunner Jess Brownell.
“We’re trying to get the seasons out faster, but it takes eight months to shoot and then you have to edit and then you have to dub into every language,” she recently told The Hollywood Reporter about when she expects the next season to premiere. “And it takes a long time to write the script, so we’re on a two-year timeline, we’re trying to speed it up, but somewhere in that range.”
