Season 2 of Tracker allows Fiona Rene’s Reenie to grow beyond her connection to Justin Hartley’s Colter.
“Obviously we’re building on Colter’s relationships and what he can do. We’re going to see more of him. But then for Reenie, we’re going to see her identity without Colter,” Rene, 36, told Us Weekly exclusively ahead of the latest episode, which airs Sunday, November 3. Rene is excited to learn more about Reenie, adding, “Before, people were like, ‘Who is she? What’s her relationship with him? Who is she when she’s with him? How can she help him?’ And while all of that is still true, we’re seeing Reenie now.” Who is she, what is her life, what does she care about, and where is she in her life?”
While the first season of Tracker needed to introduce people through their personal relationships with Colter, the hit CBS series is now expanding.
“We’ve only seen [Reenie] with him. Now you see her in her own office — which she helped design — and we see her love life and her interests,” Rene teased. “I think we can be really excited to see more of her as a personal relationship instead of just her and him.”
Tracker, which debuted in February, focuses on Colter, a survivor, traveling across the country to help people and law enforcement solve various mysteries. He often gets help from a team across the country that includes his manager Velma (Abby McEnany), a hacker named Bobby (Eric Graise), and Reenie, who has been his lawyer for the past two seasons.
Reenie’s story develops early in season 2 when she opens her own law firm.
“I’m very impressed with Reenie. I’m not Reenie and I’m trying my best to live up to her. I said WWRD [What would Reenie do],” Rene joked to Us. “Seeing her not only taking care of herself, taking care of the people she loves, building a business and trying to build relationships — that’s what the world expects of a woman. It’s hard to do that and she’s doing it.”
She continued, “I wanted to see if there were any cracks in that journey and how she’s holding it all together. But I was really impressed with her. I think with the new agency, it gave her a new sense of confidence that she didn’t have to answer to someone about which cases were important and which weren’t. We’ll see a lot more of that in the future.”
The change also allows Reenie to share the screen with Velma more. Rene hopes that as Tracker progresses, there will be more opportunities for everyone in Colter’s life to spend more time together.

“While Colter was out there alone, our love for him brought us closer together, and our love for what he did brought us closer together,” she mused to Us. “This Tracker idea became Colter’s brainchild, and we’re all trying to take care of it. So I think it brought Velma, Bobby, and Reenie so much closer together that it would be silly not to see [more].”
Following the success of Tracker on CBS, the series scored itself a longer season with 22 episodes instead of 13. This led to more episodes where Colter reunites with his team — starting with Sunday’s episode. According to the synopsis, Reenie enlists Colter to solve a case involving a woman who goes missing from a luxury wellness resort.
Rene previewed the episode for Us — and revealed how the case allowed Reenie to get more involved, saying, “Reenie likes to surprise herself. In episode 4, she gets down on the ground [to help] and says, ‘Oh, okay. I can do this and I can do it in heels.’ That makes her feel confident and good and strong.” So I would love to be able to see her do [more of that].”
“I want to see her live a full life and I want to see where her weaknesses are. I want to see who she leans on when she’s having problems and when she’s not in control,” Rene told Us. “And I want to see her fall and get back up again. That’s what I want to see from her.”
