The final season of SEAL Team is coming, and with it come questions about exactly how all the major storylines will end. Ahead of the Season 7 premiere, star David Boreanaz revealed that not all of the stories will have happy endings. But does that mean we can expect a tragic ending for Jason Hayes in the final season of SEAL Team?

Will Jason Hayes die in SEAL Team Season 7?
Boreanaz didn’t go so far as to promise that Hayes won’t have a happy ending in SEAL Team Season 7, but he did tell TVLine that “ultimately, he could be taken away by the greatest force, which is death. That’s something we have to consider and want to consider.”

Before that, of course, Hayes will be returning home in the first few episodes, which is also very different for him. Boreanaz teased. “The ultimate attraction of this arc for these operators is, ‘How do they deal with their murders?’ How does that impact them in a traumatic way both on the mission and at home? So for him to be home in the first few episodes, that’s going to be very traumatic, and that’s something he’s going to have to lean into, to deal with that and let it go and heal himself.”

Of course, the story requires Hayes to return to the battlefield. The show isn’t called SEAL Team for nothing. Of that, Boreanaz says that “how he gets back into the field and what happens to him is going to be interesting.”

“Obviously the world continues to change and evil is coming to a place that needs these operators, especially Bravo Team. They’re going to be kicking ass in a couple of episodes—you’re going to see some of the training that goes on as they patiently wait to get back, to be put into their unit. And it’s a whole new war that’s going on for them, and they have to adapt or else they’re going to be pushed aside—so it’s going to be a big challenge for them.”

SEAL Team is a Paramount+ military drama series created by Benjamin Cavell. The show follows an elite unit of US Navy SEALs called Bravo Team, who carry out the most dangerous missions around the world. The show aired on CBS for four seasons before moving to Paramount+. CBS announced in November 2023 that SEAL Team had ended with a seventh season. The cast includes David Boreanaz, Jessica Paré, Neil Brown Jr., A. J. Buckley, and Toni Trucks, with Max Thieriot previously reprising his role.
