“9-1-1: ABC Explores New World With Spin-Off In Hawaii”

ABC may have found the next place to expand its 9-1-1 franchise. According to Deadline, the network is looking to set a new 9-1-1 series in Hawaii. Las Vegas was previously considered.

A third series has been in the works for some time, but the show’s creators, Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear, didn’t want to overload the airwaves with 9-1-1-based programming.

With 9-1-1: Lone Star (above) wrapping up its fifth season, the door has opened for another series on ABC. However, it has yet to be greenlit.

Hawaii won’t be an easy sell, however. Filming in the state is expensive, and with FOX’s first responder drama Rescue: Hi-Surf filming in Hawaii, things could get even more complicated.

Here’s what that said about the challenges a Hawaii-based 9-1-1 show might face: Filming in Hawaii isn’t without its challenges—mostly financial—that make setting a 9-1-1 series there a less-than-simple proposition. proposal. Home to some of television’s most iconic series, such as Gilligan’s Island, two versions of Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I., as well as Lost, Hawaii is an expensive location that can be difficult to justify on a constantly shrinking television budget, especially on linear television.

What do you think? Would you watch a Hawaii-based 9-1-1 show if it aired on ABC? Or would you rather see a different location chosen for a new spinoff series?
