Why Young Sheldon Doesn’t Have A New Episode Tonight (March 21)
Young Sheldon season 7 is taking a mini-break in an already shortened final year. However, this hiatus shouldn’t be a surprise, considering CBS’ past.
There won’t be a new episode of Young Sheldon season 7 on March 21, and there’s a good reason why. Like its parent series, The Big Bang Theory prequel is ending despite its continued popularity. If it was solely up to CBS, Young Sheldon would continue to be on the air for as long as possible, considering that it is currently TV’s number 1 comedy. Unfortunately, its creatives’ insistence that it exists in the same universe as the nerd-centric sitcom forces it to wrap up its narrative when Sheldon moves to Pasadena, California after graduating from college.
Young Sheldon season 7 has already released five episodes. This means that there are only nine outings left before it wraps up its storytelling with a special one-hour finale on May 16. Due to the dual Hollywood strikes of 2024, The Big Bang Theory prequel was delayed, resulting in a shortened final season. The set-up is less than ideal, especially since several plots need to be addressed to ensure a satisfying send-off to the Coopers. It has been making the most out of the situation, but unfortunately, it will take a while before the next Young Sheldon episode comes out.
Young Sheldon Season 7 Is On A Break
The Coopers are on a mini-hiatus.
Taking a break in the middle of Young Sheldon’s already shortened final year may seem surprising, considering that it is already pressed with time in terms of all the storylines that it must address before its finale. That being said, this shouldn’t be a surprise for those who have been following the show for years, since it’s customary for the family comedy/drama to be on hiatus around this time. Every year, Young Sheldon suspends its programming to pave the way for March Madness , which CBS covers. This will also be the case this year, regardless of the prequel’s situation.
When Young Sheldon Season 7, Episode 6 Will Release
Young Sheldon Season 7, Episode 6 is still a long way to go.
Since March Madness will take over Young Sheldon season 7′ s timeslot, it means that The Big Bang Theory prequel can’t return to its regular programming schedule until CBS says so. Currently , Young Sheldon season 7, episode 6 is slated to release on April 4, 2024 , which will be a two-week hiatus. So aside from this week (March 21), the hit spinoff will also not air any new episode next week (March 28). It’s uncertain if CBS is planning to do more mini-breaks in the final month and a half of Young Sheldon .Admittedly, they are frustrating, since they interrupt the show’s storytelling flow. It’s worth noting that aside from March Madness, the network also considers the sweeps period, which takes place from late April to May (also in November, February, and July). Data collected during these dates is used by advertisers and networks to decide on the advertising rates for the rest of the year. Since Young Sheldon is a ratings hit for CBS, the network wants to smartly position it during the sweeps period. This is particularly important since The Big Bang Theory prequel is in its final year.
What To Expect When Young Sheldon Season 7 Returns
Mary is about to butt heads with Mandy’s family.
Young Sheldon season 7 is currently on a two-week break , CBS hasn’t released a trailer for what comes next for the fan-favorite. Typically, the network would include a sneak peek of what lies ahead for Sheldon and the rest of the Coopers at the end of every episode. That being said, the network has shared new details about what to expect from The Big Bang Theory prequel when it returns in the first week of April. The family has been in a period of peace since Sheldon and Mary came home, but that’s all about to change. Young Sheldon season 7, episode 6 is titled “Baptists, Catholics and an Attempted Drowning.” The outing will see Mary and Mandy’s mom butting heads over the upcoming baptism of Baby Cece. Considering Mary’s return to Pastor Jeff’s church, it’s expected that she would insist on making her granddaughter also part of the same congregation. The episode also connects to the impending wedding of Mandy and Georgie, who got engaged in the Young Sheldon season 6 finale .Aside from the confirmed storyline.
there’s also the possibility of George’s death . Considering its unexpected nature, the writers don’t really have to drop clues about when or how it will happen, which means that the tragedy could go down at any time. With George officially exonerated from Sheldon’s cheating allegations in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 4, “Ants on a Log and a Cheating Winker” there are no remaining significant storylines incentivizing the show to keep the Cooper patriarch around.
