The Fly Team might be losing another member. During the fifth episode of Season 3, FBI: International seemingly said goodbye to Damian Powell (played by Greg Hovanessian), but is he leaving the show for good? Find out if Damian Powell is leaving FBI: International below.

FBI: International is the third spin-off of Dick Wolf’s FBI. It follows the elite operatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s International Fly Team. Headquartered in Budapest, the team investigates crime and terrorism abroad, neutralizing threats against American citizens. Luke Kleintank stars Scott Forrester, the head of the Fly Team unit. Rounding out the cast is Greg Hovanessian as Special Agent Damian Powell, Carter Redwood as Special Agent Andre Raines, Vinessa Vidotto as interrogation expert Cameron Vo, Eva-Jane Willis as Europol Agent Megan “Smitty” Garretson and Season 3 newcomer Christina Wolfe as Special Agent Amanda Tate.

Original cast member Heida Reed, who starred as Special Agent Jamie Kellett, left the show in the Season 3 premiere, with her character transferring back to the U.S. Now, the Fly Team might be down yet another member, as Damian Powell, a recurring character since Season 2, has gotten himself into some hot water.

Is Damian Powell leaving FBI: International for good?

Is Damian Powell leaving FBI: International for good? The odds of the special agent returning to the series are looking slim. In the fourth episode of Season 3, Powell crossed some major lines while interrogating a suspect in Bulgaria and the altercation turned violent. What’s worse, is that happened on Bulgarian soil, meaning the consequences would be out of the Fly Team’s hands. Smitty used her Interpol connections to get Powell off the hook and Forrester decided not to report him to the higher ups, but he wasn’t out of the clear just yet.

In the fourth episode, titled “Death by Inches,” Powell was benched for his actions and had stay behind as the team traveled to Vienna to investigate a former U.S. cabinet member who was selling classified documents. The investigation quickly went awry and Forrester ended up kidnapped with a bag over his head. Thankfully, Vo was able to save him, but Powell felt helpless back in Budapest.

“Look, I wasn’t at my best yesterday,” he told Forrester. “I respect what Tate and her team can do, truly, I just can’t add anything. I belong in the field.”

His boss agreed, telling Powell: “I agree … Which is why you’re not getting fired. You’re getting transferred. I talked to Richard Muir in undercover ops. Turns out they’re looking for someone for a long term investigation in Germany. It’s deep cover. You’d be in the field, in the thick of it, 24/7.”

Powell was frustrated with the proposed transfer. “I’m off the Fly Team?” he asked. “It’s just one mistake. You’re telling me you can’t look past that, just this one time?” Forrester responded: “It’s time, Damian … It’s just one time. It’s just one inch. The team, they were willing to lie for you in Bulgaria. I have been trying to convince myself to look the other way. And I know, me and you, we go way back. It’s just, where does that lead?”

The special agent then accepted the transfer and went out to drinks with his team. After thanking them for saving his life on multiple occasions and holding him accountable for his actions, he told Fly Team: “Most importantly, you showed me that no matter where I am or who I’m pretending to be, I will never be lost.”

Although it’s unclear if Powell is leaving for good, his final scene seems pretty definite. Greg Hovanessian also shared a cryptic Instagram post on March 5 that may have hinted that his time on the show was coming to an end. The actor shared a photo of the cast on set, captioning it with a single red heart emoji. After his final episode aired, fans flooded the comments section with support. “Why they do you like that man. 😢,” one fan wrote. Another chimed in: “I saw it coming and I’m still mad about it 🙄 best character that show has had in a LONG time, I’m done with it.”

Powell may be off the team for good, but we’re not ruling out a surprise appearance in the future since he’ll still be abroad. Perhaps his undercover investigation in Germany will lead him to cross paths again with the Fly Team.
