Blue Bloods star gives fans hope the show will continue beyond season 14: ‘I think it remains possible’
In a new interview Blue Bloods star Abigail Hawk has given fans a glimmer of hope that season 15 could still happen.
Ever since the moment CBS announced that it would be ending Blue Bloods with season 14, fans of the long-running Friday night hit have been making their outrage and frustrations known with fans calling on CBS to reconsider its decision, and they’ve not been alone.
Many members of the show’s cast have spoken out about the decision to end the show and made it clear that they too want the show to continue beyond its fourteenth season. Just like the fans who have embraced the show and made it one of the most-watched shows for 14 seasons straight on CBS, the cast has been vocal in not understanding the decision to end the hit series which continues to rank not only as one of CBS’s most-watched shows but as one of the most-watched shows on all of TV.
Despite fan and cast efforts to save the show ahead of its midseason finale earlier this year, President of Entertainment at CBS Amy Reisenbach remained adamant that the network was not going to budge on the decision to cancel the show telling reporters in May, “We love this cast, we love their passion for the show. All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule. We are going to end the show come December.”
While CBS brass might be ready to close the book on the show, it seems the cast refuses to give up hope with one member of the longtime ensemble hinting that season 15 remains possible.
Blue Bloods star gives fans hope for season 15
In speaking with HELLO!, actress Abigail Hawk, who has played Detective Abigail Baker across the show’s 14 seasons, gave fans an inkling of hope that perhaps season 15 could still happen.
When asked about the possibility of the show coming back for another season, Hawk told HELLO!, “If you had asked me this question during the summer before these episodes were about to air, my answer would have been, ‘There’s a pinprick of hope’. Now I think once these episodes start airing, CBS executives may realize that they have made a colossal error and perhaps rethink down the line so I think it remains possible.”
While Hawk noted that there has been speculation about whether the show could move to another network, she made it clear there isn’t a possibility of the show moving to another network noting a move to another network would not be “a viable option given the talks that we’ve had with the cast and the producers.
Still, Hawk seems optimistic that CBS could come to its senses and realize just how beloved and successful Blue Bloods remains all these seasons after its run began.
“But hope floats, and I think it’s necessary to have something to hang on to and we would all certainly drop everything and make that happen. At the end of the day, CBS can do whatever they want, but I hope they realize not only how commercially viable Blue Bloods is, but how beloved it is, and the staying power that it has because family is universal and there are more stories to be told.”
We’ll have to wait to see whether CBS does indeed change its mind on the decision to end Blue Bloods, but for now, fans can continue to enjoy the show’s farewell episodes on Fridays at 10/9c on CBS.
