“I Want My Job Back!”: Blue Bloods Star Addresses Series Ending With Season 14
One Blue Bloods star has expressed consternation about the impending end of the show. The ongoing Blue Bloods season 14, which premiered the first episode of the eight-episode part 2 on October 18, is the final season of the long-running show, which follows the multigenerational law enforcement family the Reagans. The core cast has been consistent across all 14 seasons, including Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan, Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan, Will Estes as Jamie Reagan, Len Cariou as Henry Reagan, and Tom Selleck as Frank Reagan.
During a recent appearance on the talk show Sherri (via HELLO! Magazine), Bridget Moynahan reflected on the show’s impending end. She revealed that it’s “bittersweet,” lamenting that “I want my job back!” However, she shared that she still sees several of her co-stars regularly after the show wrapped production in June of this year. She said that the cast still celebrates birthdays and that she gets together with Wahlberg and Vanessa Ray, who has played Eddie Janko-Reagan on the show since first appearing in a recurring role during season 4. Read her full quote below:
It’s bittersweet. I want my job back! It was a good run. 14 years with a group of people, we were a family on and off the screen. Vanessa, Donnie and I, we get together. We’re still celebrating people’s birthdays and having fun out there. So, [I] miss them on a daily basis.
What This Means For Blue Bloods
The End Is Coming Soon
Even though Blue Bloods’ Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan in particular have been vocal about their desire for the show to continue, Moynahan’s comments seem to cement the fact that season 14 will indeed be the final outing for the long-running drama. So far, no continuations have been announced, either in the form of a sequel series or a spinoff. However, Wahlberg recently told TV Insider that he may be interested in appearing in a spinoff if it is “done with the spirit” of the flagship show.
She has not strayed too far from the core group of actors…
While Moynahan has lamented no longer being a part of the show, she has also begun to move on from the CBS drama since wrapping production. In fact, she began filming the feature-length drama Original Sound, which also stars Eric Stoltz, Laura Marano, and Ted King, just three months later. However, that movie was the directorial debut of Gregory Jbara, who was a longtime part of the Blue Bloods cast, having played Garrett Moore on 245 episodes. Thus, she has not strayed too far from the core group of actors involved in the project.
Our Take On Bridget Moynahan’s Blue Bloods Comments
The Reagans’ Bond Lives On
Although the show is coming to its conclusion with the series finale, which will likely premiere on CBS before the end of 2024, Moynahan’s comments do highlight one important element of the legacy of the series. By continuing to both spend leisure time and work professionally with her longtime co-stars, she has highlighted how the family connection in Blue Bloods is just as strong off the screen as it is in the show itself.
