Bridgerton shares first look at season four – and new female lead Sophie
Bridgertonfans, are you ready for season four? While we’ll have to wait a while for the next season, which is expected to hit Netflix in 2026, we’ve already got a sneak peek at the new female lead preparing for her role as Sophie!
Sharing a clip of actress Yerin Ha choosing her outfit to film for the upcoming season, the caption reads: “Dear readers, as preparations for the next season of the show are almost underway, we’d like to extend a warm welcome to the newest member of Ton…. Introducing Yerin Ha as Sophie in Bridgerton Season 4! Fans were delighted, with one writing: “WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH YERIN!!! WELCOME TO THE BRIDGERTON FAMILY,” while another added: “Oh, we can’t wait for the next social season!” A third wrote: “WELCOME TO SOPHIE FROM BRIDGERTON BENEDICT.” Yerin, an Australian-born South Korean star who has starred in Halo and Dune: Prophecy, opened up about the role, telling Netflix: “What attracted me to Sophie was that she immediately encountered obstacles — which she constantly had to overcome. Whether it’s battling over social status or trying to hide her feelings for Benedict.” Sophie, whose surname is Beckett in the books, is now called ‘Baek’ out of respect for Yerin’s culture, with Yerin explaining: “A name is the first part of your identity that you share with the world, and that’s why changing your name can be so powerful. Making Sophie’s name fit someone who looks like me is really empowering. All the credit goes to Jess Brownell, our showrunner.
“It was a really great way for me to feel like this role was right for me, rather than me having to fit a certain mold. It’s amazing that it can do that just in a psychological sense. So the fact that Jess did that for me means a lot.”
For those who don’t mind a few Bridgerton spoilers, season four will be based on the third novel in the Julia Quinn series, and will see Benedict find love in a Cindrella-style romance with Sophie, the illegitimate daughter of an Earl who is forced to serve as a servant to her evil stepmother.
