Virgin River fans ‘ecstatic’ as Netflix confirms future two months before season 6 release

Netflix has made history with its surprising announcement about the future of Virgin River almost two months before season six will be released

Virgin River fans are rejoicing as they’ve been given exciting news about the Netflix show’s future way before the latest season has even been released.

Deadline has reported the series has already been picked up for a seventh season, two months before viewers have got their hands on season six.

The latest romantic escapades of Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) will be releasing this December.

10 more episodes of the show have now been ordered, which will make it Netflix’s longest-running English-language drama series ever.

The cast of the show, which also includes Sarah Dugdale, Tim Matheson, Kandyse McClure, Zibby Allen and Colin Lawrence, took to Instagram to confirm the news, causing a minor meltdown among the fanbase.

“Good news, Virgin River is confirmed to come back for Season 7!” the show’s official account wrote in the caption.

“More love, drama, and small-town charm coming your way. You’re very welcome.”

Based on Robyn Carr’s bestselling novels, the small-town drama has clearly become a fan-favourite amongst Netflix subscribers as hundreds of them took to the comments to share their excitement.

One thrilled viewer replied: “Congratulations @virginriverseries on your season 7 renewal!!!

“We are so so happy and excited for the cast, crew, writers, and everyone who works so hard to bring us this show! You totally deserve all the success!! Also can’t wait to see what is in store for season 6!!”
