Montana Jordan is stepping into the spotlight as the lead in the third spin-off of The Big Bang Theory, titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The show premiered on October 17, focusing on Georgie, Sheldon’s brother, and his wife Mandy (played by Emily Osment) as they navigate the challenges of young parenthood.
At 21, Jordan reflects on his experiences with the Big Bang Theory cast, noting that he has met many of them during the filming of Young Sheldon. “Every single one of them was down to earth and nice people,” he told The Post. He mentioned Jim Parsons, who was particularly involved in guiding young actor Iain Armitage, who played a younger Sheldon. “But they kind of let the country kid do what he wants,” he added, referring to himself.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage follows Georgie and Mandy as they adjust to life with a new baby. The original Big Bang Theory, which aired from 2007 to 2019, captivated 20 million viewers per episode and revolved around Sheldon Cooper, a Texas-born child prodigy turned physicist, alongside co-stars Mayim Bialik and Kaley Cuoco.
The franchise’s first spin-off, Young Sheldon, aired from 2017 to 2024, exploring Sheldon’s childhood and featuring Georgie and Mandy as side characters. In the original series, an adult Georgie, played by Jerry O’Connell, runs a tire store chain and has been married and divorced multiple times. Jordan hinted at the possibilities for his character’s future: “We all know the storyline is that Georgie gets married a couple of times, but whether it’s with Mandy the next couple times, we don’t know. We’ll have to watch and find out.”
Jordan, who lives on a Texas farm, draws parallels between his own life and his character’s. Recently becoming a father himself, he said, “I’ve got a four-and-a-half-month-old at the house.” He finds that real-life experiences make his on-screen performances more authentic. “When you’ve got situations that you’re going through in real life, it makes it easier to bring it to life on TV. It makes it look more natural when I’m holding babies on set,” he shared.
Contrary to popular belief, Jordan’s thick Texas accent is genuine. “A lot of people think it’s fake, but it ain’t,” he explained. He’s grateful for his early acting opportunities that allowed him to keep his accent, beginning with the 2018 film The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter.
As a newcomer to acting, Jordan learns from his experienced co-stars. He praised Osment, saying, “She’s just a down-to-earth person and easy to get along with. I tell her all the time I’m good at sitting on the sidelines, watching what she does, and learning.”
The show features an engaging opening sequence where Jordan and Osment showcase their dancing skills. “They brought in some ‘Dancing With the Stars’ people to teach us,” he revealed. “We had about four or five days to learn that. It wasn’t on my bucket list, but I guess if it was, I can mark it off now. There’s always laughter on set.”
As for the potential fame that comes with starring in such a popular franchise, Jordan remains grounded. “I don’t even think about it. I don’t want that to interfere with anything I’ve got going on. I just try to bring my natural self to the TV,” he said. He emphasizes the importance of returning to his roots in Texas, where he feels most at home. “I try not to stay in the [Los Angeles] scene too much,” he added.
