RSVP to the wedding of the season!

Well, it’s official: Wedding bells are ringing in Virgin River! On Oct. 17, two months away from the highly anticipated Dec. 19 release of Virgin River season 6, Netflix revealed the first official teaser for the new episodes, and there’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it footage from season 6… but there’s plenty to gather that we will be basking in the culmination of show’s greatest love story.

In the one-minute clip, narration from Jack’s proposal recaps Mel and Jack’s sweeping love story from their meet-cute in the first season and all the way up to their current preparations for their wedding. It’s been a winding road for the couple, filled with some tragedy but lots of love and community. Fires, birth fathers, paternity bombshells, and everything in between have brought them to this point.

Toward the 44-second mark in the Virgin River season 6 teaser, you will want to pay extra close attention and keep your pause finger ready. That’s when the brief clips from season 6 begin: Mel and Jack dancing in an empty barn, Mel’s wedding dress fitting with the girls, the bachelorette party, Jack riding a horse and trying on his tuxedo, and the smallest glimpse of The Dress.

Earlier in October, Netflix finally gave Virgin River fans the gift they have been waiting for since season 5 finished airing last November: The season 6 release date! Although the season was looking like it could have been pushed to a 2025 release due to the delays from the strikes, Virgin River will in fact return with 10 all-new episodes on Thursday, Dec. 19.

Along with Mel and Jack’s wedding festivities, fans can also look forward to the season introducing the love story between Mel’s mother Sarah and her birth father Everett after they meet in the ’70s. Jessica Rothe and Callum Kerr will play Mel’s parents in a flashback sequence that will set up the potential prequel spinoff series centered on them and telling their full story.

Virgin River season 6 surely has plenty more surprises in store for viewers as Mel continues to get to know Everett and learn about his past in real time. The season will also return with Lizzie significantly pregnant, Preacher’s secrets coming to the surface, a fresh start for Doc and Hope, and continued romantic intrigue for Brie between Mike and Brady. Oh, and don’t forget, Cameron and Muriel are still an item, too!

Before the new season arrives in December, Netflix will surely release a full trailer with even more teases for the twists to come. Until then, we’ll just have to wonder why Jack’s riding his horse down the Old Town Road and if Everett’s lie from last season will be water under the bridge. Stay tuned for more Virgin River news and updates from Netflix Life!
