Bridgerton Ball Goes Wrong in Detroit: Inside the Uninspiring Experience Fans Call a ‘Scam’
Bridgerton fans in Detroit are furious after an expensive immersive event failed to make their Regency-era dreams come true.
On Sunday, an unauthorized Bridgerton-themed event hit social media, with numerous complaints about the experience, which was billed as a chance for fans to “enter the enchanting world” of the hit Netflix series for “an evening of sophistication, grace and glamour in a historical setting.”
Tickets to the “Detroit Bridgerton-themed Experience”—which range from $150 to $1,000 depending on the package purchased—came with the promise of a full gala experience, including “a night of dancing, live entertainment, exquisite refreshments, and exciting surprises,” as well as “a chance to win $2,000 in cash” for being named Diamond of the Season, aka the best-dressed attendee.
However, those who showed up in their Bridgerton best were greeted with an event that simply didn’t live up to those promises: Disgruntled X and TikTok users reported that there were no cash prizes, no alcohol, and not even enough chairs for everyone to sit. As for the entertainment, according to the footage, there was just a violinist and a stripper.
“The way the event was described was that it was going to be an evening of Bridgerton. We were going to have classical music, a nice dinner. There was going to be a play and they were going to pick the Diamond of the Season,” one attendee said in a report by local ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV. “They were going to give out all these awards. And we walked in, and it was completely empty. There was a stripper pole in the middle of the dance floor.”
Another added, “It was chaos. They never even scanned our tickets. We paid for dinner and there were random people all over the place.”
Bridgerton Officially Confirms Yerin Ha as Sophie Benedict’s Season 4 Love Interest as Rehearsals Begin “My family and I just left the Detroit Bridgerton Ball,” one attendee wrote on Reddit, along with photos from the event. “It was HORRIBLE. There was nowhere to sit. Although the venue was beautiful, the decorations were sparse and extremely cheesy. Not even Bridgerton themed! We spent $400 on tickets to have a complete b*tch experience!”
One commenter wrote that they were “outraged” that their tickets were never checked after spending $150 each, adding, “The highlight of the night was when we went to the 3rd floor for a final sweep to look for anything salvageable and there was a DJ. Everyone was doing the cha cha slide and walking out like it was a birthday party.”
Prom night wasn’t the first problem ticket holders have encountered: the event was originally scheduled for Sunday, August 25, but the night before, guests were notified via email that the venue had been canceled and the prom would be rescheduled.
“All tickets will be considered valid if you purchased them prior to the date change,” the event’s website noted afterward. “You can also sell your tickets if you are unable to attend.”
The event was organized by a business called Uncle N Me LLC, whose founders are uncle and niece Jeremy Scott and Chelsea Beard. They have since disabled comments on their social media posts and deleted the company’s website. On Tuesday, Beard shared a statement about the outrage on her personal Instagram page.
“Dearest readers,” she began. “We understand that not everyone had the experience they expected at our event on Sunday night at The Harmonie Club, and for that, we sincerely apologize. Our goal was to create a magical evening, but we recognize that organizational challenges and unforeseen changes, including last-minute changes to the venue and date, impacted the experience for some guests. Unfortunately, some non-refundable deposits from original bookings resulted in losses on our end, which added to the challenges. Regardless, we take full responsibility for these risks.”
She continued, “Please know that we are working hard to address any concerns and will be in touch soon with further details. We greatly appreciate your feedback, both positive and constructive. You can expect an email with next steps.”
Bridgerton hopes to see hot, unsolicited audition videos sent in: ‘It’s basically sex’ The statement also offered a “special thank you” to those who took part, noting that “you all looked spectacular” and promising a recap video and photos of the event later.
Beard concluded, “Your understanding and loyalty means a lot to us and we are grateful for your
