The three-part finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star ended with a game-changing announcement: Paul had been promoted to lieutenant! But what Owen didn’t announce has fans talking about for a week. Namely, what did he whisper to Marjan after her big speech?
The good news is we have the answer to that question. The bad news is you’re going to absolutely hate it. Ready? Here we go.
“They didn’t write that in the script,” Brian Michael Smith (aka Paul) told TVLine of the silent exchange between Owen and Marjan, explaining that it’s impossible to know what was said. “I think it’s a really cool thing, because it’s just between the two of them. The audience can fill in whatever they want.”
When asked for his own theory about what Owen might have said, Smith speculated: “Marjan is very similar to Captain Strand in the way they’re both willing to endure. Because they’re so similar, whatever he says is probably in line with, ‘I see you and I recognize you.’ And I like that.”
Given how supportive the members of 126 are of each other, it’s possible that Owen was simply giving Marjan some well-deserved encouragement. However, neither theory is technically wrong, and we’ve seen a number of ideas on social media—including one that Owen told Marjan that she was his first choice out of loyalty. We don’t buy that, though.
