Reenie Leaves Her Job: What Big Turning Points Awaits in Tracker Season 2?

CBS and Paramount+’s hit action drama Tracker returns with a bang as our favorite, Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley), ventures into the Arkansas woods to find the missing family of a man named Craig King (Erik Gow). Despite his lone wolf persona, Colter doesn’t solve his cases alone, as evidenced in the first episode of Tracker’s second season. His job is made much easier with the help of his legal expert Reenie (Fiona Rene), his handler Velma (Abby McEnany), and his hacker friend Bobby (Eric Graise).

The opening scenes of Season 2 feature Reenie painting her new office as the talented attorney opens her own law firm after leaving her job at the end of Season 1. Speaking to Screen Rant, Rene, who plays the character, sought to explain how that decision will impact her character’s storyline in Season 2. While teasing that viewers will see more of Reenie, the actor emphasized that her character is also searching for autonomy. Rene commented, “I think from the beginning, it was very clear that she wanted her identity to be not tied to Colter and not tied to her old job, her old firm, where in my mind, I felt like all these men were telling her what to do, and she was like, ‘I’ve had enough. I’m going to open myself up and tell myself what to do as a woman.” I think that’s what she feels deep down. And so you’ll see her be a little bit more independent, but she never stops wanting to help Colter. Their friendship really builds over time. You’ll see her a little bit more on the field, you’ll see her a little bit more in her office, period.”

With Reenie now running her own business, this means the character will have more time to connect with McEnany’s Velma, who is now Colter’s sole manager, with Robin Weigert, who played Teddi Bruin, leaving the show. Weigert’s departure will see Reenie and Velma work much more closely together. A pattern was established in the first episode of Season 2. Aside from Teddi and Velma, the first season of Tracker didn’t have any notable romantic relationships to speak of. However, early on, Season 2 introduced a new love interest for Colter. Reenie and Colter had a bit of a flirtatious energy between them, and Rene talked about the possibility of the pair becoming a couple, saying, “I mean, I love him, but do you expect me to live in a trailer? [Laughs] You know what I mean? I think there’s a lot of love there, but I also think she would never live on the road. You have two people who are so remorseless about themselves that I can’t imagine how that would work out, but who knows?”
