How did Colter disappear and what makes things more tense in the new sneak peek?

Colter’s job comes with a lot of risks, most of which he’s proven capable of handling. However, sometimes the case gets so complicated or the mystery so deep that he needs someone’s help. Sometimes, he gets into trouble directly; other times, it’s his clients. In TrackerSeason 2, Episode 2, “Ontological Shock,” Colter (Justin Hartley) disappears while working a case, prompting Reenie to call Russell (Jensen Ackles) to help find him. CBS released a trailer for the episode that shows Colter dealing with trust issues with his client, while another trailer shows his team going crazy when they realize he’s missing.

“If I’m going to take this job, I need all the information, and I need to be able to trust all the information I’m given. What aren’t you telling me?” Colter asks his client in the first trailer. His guess that she’s hiding something turns out to be correct when she shares some information she hasn’t shared before. Colter doesn’t seem to believe that she’s told him everything she knows, but she convinces him that he’s doing the right thing. “He was a good man, my dad. Can you help me find him?” the client begs him. “I’ll do anything I can,” Colter agrees.

“Ugh! That doesn’t make sense! I can’t find anything. Colter’s been gone for twelve hours and there’s no digital trail. Usually, I can pick up a signal somewhere, but now I can’t find anything,” Bobby says in the second trailer. Velma reveals that a deputy found Colter’s truck, but Colter is nowhere to be found. Reenie believes that something is wrong somewhere. Velma and Bobby convince Reenie not to make a rash decision, and she brings in someone who can. “Something’s wrong, and I know who can find him,” she tells the other two as she calls out to someone who is almost certainly Colter’s brother.

The third clip is a BTS teaser. “Russell!” Colter exclaims as the clip begins. “Russell will get you out of this sticky situation,” Russell says. The short shows the brothers escaping from where Colter is being held. The footage shows their motivation as they dive into the investigation while also uncovering their family’s past. The duo explores the world of UFOs, or UAPs, as Russell claims is the proper term. The short also reveals secrets from the Shaw family.
