Virgin River Season 6: Theory Suggests Mel Could Be Related to Most Hated Character
There are many characters in Virgin River that are beloved by fans, but there are also some that are annoying, especially one that could play a bigger role in the upcoming events and Mel’s already complicated life.
Here’s a theory that not all fans will be happy with. In the season 5 finale, Mel (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) found her biological father – Everett Reid. However, Everett had no intention of building a father-daughter relationship with Mel. Since Virgin River is known for its upbeat and optimistic storylines, this one doesn’t end there. Eventually, Everett changes his mind, opening the door for his relationship with Mel, which is expected to be the focus of season 6.
Many fans believe that Everett will reveal to Mel that she has a half-sibling – and that this half-sibling could be a character who has already appeared on the show, namely Charmaine, Jack’s ex-lover. Yes, you read that right – Charmaine gave birth to twins at the end of season 5, which could make her the focus of future episodes.
Charmaine and Mel: Are they half-sisters?
If Everett is indeed the father of both of them, Mel and Charmaine – who were once rivals – will be forced to reconcile. This is entirely possible, especially since Mel helped Charmaine give birth. However, it’s also possible that this new familial relationship could create new conflict. Charmaine may have felt uncomfortable sharing her father with Mel, especially since she had just given birth and did not want to be overshadowed by Mel.

This theory has been deeply divisive among fans because Charmaine is not a beloved character. She tried everything to win Jack back when she discovered he was in love with Mel. Charmaine even made Jack believe that he was the father of the twins, seriously affecting Jack and Mel’s relationship, while she knew full well that the real father of the children was Calvin – their sworn enemy. These manipulative actions made Charmaine the most hated character in the series.
Actress Lauren Hammersley, who plays Charmaine, has also faced heavy criticism from some overzealous viewers. Alexandra Breckenridge also previously called for fans to calm down after negative comments exploded around a comment she made.
