Yerin Ha Remembers Exactly Where She Was When She Found Out She’d Won the Latest Leading Role in Bridgerton!
On Monday, September 30, Shondaland — the production company that’s home to the hit Netflix series — released a YouTube video of the 29-year-old Australian actress and co-star Luke Thompson answering some burning questions about herself and the show.
More than halfway through, Ha, who was cast as Sophie, was asked about the reaction she got from friends and family when she found out she’d gotten the role.
“So when I got the role, I was having breakfast with my mom at a cafe in Korea and I walked out and it was funny because my mom knew right when I was dancing on the streets of Gangnam [a district in Seoul, South Korea] that I got the role,” Ha said as she sat next to Thompson, 36. The news was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from Ha’s mother, although the couple had to leave shortly after.

I think I have indigestion,’ and we left,” the South Korean actress said, laughing with her co-star.
Ha continued, “It was great to share that moment with her.”
Ha reenacted her friend’s reaction, showing her putting down the phone and seemingly in a state of shock — but still incredibly happy.

According to Ha, she couldn’t have asked for a better response from her loved ones.
“It’s great to have people who truly love and support you,” she said, adding that her supporters are happy to see her grow on her journey.
Her casting was announced in August, followed by a 30-second teaser shared on the Bridgerton’s X account (formerly Twitter) on September 11. “Dear readers, as preparations for the next season of networking are almost underway, we would like to extend a warm welcome to the newest member of the Ton…. Introducing Yerin Ha as Sophie in Bridgerton Season 4!” the post reads.
In the clip, Ha is alone in her room as she walks toward a rack of clothes — gloves and a dress perfect for the Regency era.
Season 4 of Bridgerton focuses on the family’s second-oldest brother, Benedict Bridgerton (Thompson), and his love story with Ha’s Sophie. Seasons 1-3 of Bridgerton and its spinoff, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, are streaming on Netflix.
