Will Trent co-showrunner Daniel Thomsen talks about where Will went after his big decisions in the season 2 finale. Will Trent season 2 ended with the main character arresting Angie after learning she had tampered with evidence and made false statements to keep Crystal from being involved in the murder of Lenny Broussard. After handcuffing his longtime girlfriend, Will left for an unknown location. This left the other characters wondering where he went, only knowing that he had his dog Betty with him.

Speaking to TVLine, Thomsen hinted at where Will might have gone after the Will Trent season 2 finale. While the co-showrunner didn’t give a definitive answer about his whereabouts — that’s still undecided — he did say that going to Puerto Rico to meet Antonio was still a possibility. Check out what Thomsen had to say below: I mean, we could definitely make choices. No decision has been made yet, but if you were to rank the places Will would want to go, this would definitely be one of them.

Will was never told where he was going at the end of season 2, only that he needed to get out of Atlanta until he could clear his head about what he had done. The agent has been going through some tough times lately, with Will Trent season 2 revealing his backstory and why he felt responsible for his mother’s death. Angie’s false testimony seemed to be the final straw for him, leading him to decide to arrest her before fleeing town. This shows his dark mental state, which could have influenced where he ended up.

Puerto Rico seems like the most likely place for Will to go, especially since he’s grown close to Antonio since the pair found each other in season 2. He may want to see a friend after everything that’s happened, maybe even get some advice on what to do next. However, it’s also possible that he wants to be alone, having pushed Angie away with his big decision. While talking to someone could be helpful, self-reflection might be more what he needs after what he’s done.

Wherever Will ends up, it’s sure to have a major impact on his mental state in Will Trent season 3. Since he’ll definitely be back by the time the events of next season begin, where he is could be a foundational mystery for the series to explore in the future. Regardless of where he ends up, however, it will give him time to think about his actions, to contemplate what kind of GBI agent he wants to be in the future.
