“Tracker: Major Character Departures and Exciting Predictions for Season 2”

‘Tracker: Major Character Departures and Exciting Predictions for Season 2’ Ahead of Tracker’s season 2 premiere, Fiona Rene, who plays Reenie on the show, discussed how Teddi’s absence will affect the story. News of Robin Weigert’s departure from the show was confirmed in August 2024. Weigert’s Teddi Bruin was a major part of season 1, appearing in multiple scenes in each episode. The actor’s departure from the show wouldn’t come without notice, which raises questions about how it will affect season 2. In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant’s Rachel Foertsch, Rene revealed that Teddi’s departure was much-needed and could provide “an opportunity for the characters of Reenie, Velma, and Bobby to come together.” While Velma and Teddi are a dynamic duo who play a big part in Colter Shaw’s work life, Teddi’s absence will see a real team behind his operation. Read her full response below: Overall, I feel like the team has become stronger and more cohesive. Robin Weigert is a real star, and I love her both personally and professionally, but I think it really gives the characters of Reenie, Velma, and Bobby a chance to come together, as opposed to the characters of Velma and Teddi being separate from the other two, which I think is necessary because we’re developing something and becoming a little family to support our boy. If we weren’t a team when he was gone, actually coming together and talking to each other, it would be hard to support.

Teddi is a big part of Colter’s work life, but it’s going to be very different. Previously, showrunner Elwood Reid revealed that Teddi would not be “killed off” on the show. Instead, Velma and Teddi were separated, leaving Teddi absent. Based on Rene’s comments, it seems like Tracker season 2 will explore how this unexpected turn of events in Velma’s personal life will affect those around her.

While dealing with abandonment and heartbreak, Teddi’s departure will also serve as a bonding opportunity for Reenie, Bobby, and Velma. A team is reassembling in Teddi’s absence, meaning season 2 will likely focus on the themes of family and team. This storyline will also allow the Tracker characters to gain new purpose, especially since Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw will be focusing on how his father died.

While the reason behind Weigert’s departure remains unknown, it seems like it unexpectedly serves the show’s purpose. Weigert is a phenomenal actor and not having her in season 2 is a loss. However, Teddi’s absence can easily be accommodated because the ending of Tracker season 1 shifted to Colter solving the mystery of his father. So the dynamic between Reenie, Velma and Bobby is definitely something to look forward to. It will also be interesting to see how this change affects Colter in his work life. Teddi’s departure shakes things up a bit, which adds a little more to the show.
