In a recent interview with TVLine, showrunner Spencer Hudnut opened up about the end of SEAL Team. He stated, “I hope the legacy is that we told an honest story. It wasn’t a recruitment video, but it wasn’t a politically correct view of the military. We tried to tell the true story of the men and women in uniform and what sacrifice really means.”
SEAL Team Season 7 aired its final episode on October 6, 2024. The season has a total of ten episodes.
As viewers know, the show’s seventh season was renewed in January 2023. However, production was halted due to a writers’ strike. In addition, fans launched a social media campaign to continue the series. A year later, the series returned for a seventh season. Additionally, a standalone film that was reported in February 2022 after Season 6 was renewed was shelved a year later.
SEAL Team writer David Boreanaz shared with TV Insider that the show was canceled due to ongoing storylines. He stated that at the beginning of Season 7, the showrunners realized that it was the “perfect way” to contain Jason’s story.
These events thus contributed to the cancellation of SEAL Team after seven successful years on the air.
